“Delicious food in a home-style setting.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2010

We stopped in for a light dinner at the Red House Cafe. This place is popular with the locals. My husband and I split a caesar salad and the crab cakes. Both were excellent. There were two good-sized crab cakes on the plate and they were so flavorful. Just right for us. The service was excellent. We'll be returning again when we are in the area.

“Cute, Cottage Atmosphere. Simple, straight-forward, satisfying cuisine.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2010

Good "homey" feeling atmosphere in adorable little cottage. The food is tasty. Salads could be more exciting (I like a big salad for entree) but nice still, if not spectacular. I like the chicken parmigiano.Hated the coconut pie, yuck! but, the cookies were great. Often they have a wait time as this is one of the best values in town with the most atmosphere, unless you're looking for ethic style food (great food and value to be had at An Choi, Thai Bistro, and Petra's Mediterranean restaurants). If you want fish go to Passion Fish (a little inconsistent unfortuanately and you'll want to have a reservation as it's very popular).

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2010

Four adults and two kids ate dinner at Red House Cafe. I made reservations and our table was available right away. The Cafe is cute and nice decorated. The food was outstanding. The service was a little slow which I don't mind unless I the kids are unruly. If you are headed to Pacific Grove, don't miss out on this great food.

“Lucky to have Red House Cafe in Pacific Grove.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2010

We have eaten at a very "famous" pricey restaurant in Pacific Grove, and then at the Red House. We are "locals" and can tell you that we have never had a poor meal at the Red House. Their wine list is also very good, and desserts of high quality. If a tourist looks at the little "house" and expects a bargain meal, forget it. You will however, get some of the best food in town and enjoy the "homey" atmosphere and good service.

“We were disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2010

Stopped in for my birthday dinner. We had hoped with the unassuming atmosphere that the prices would be reasonable - but were disappointed. I ordered the Scallops special and it came overly salted and swimming in a pool of soupy mashed potatoes. My daughter ordered Salmon Pizza that was good for a few bites, and then became soggy. Wine was $10 for a portion most restaurants would serve as a taster. Husband's salad with meal was an additional $9 plus $4 for bacon bits on top. Sorry - but not interested in ever going back!
