“Underwhelmed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

After passing by this place a number of times on other trips to the area, three of us finally got around to trying it for dinner a few weeks ago. We were rather early and got seated right away, but even though only about a third of the tables were filled it took a long time to get drinks or have our food order taken. My two friends each ordered a sauted shrimp dish and I ordered sole piccata. All the dishes came with some sort of cream-based sauce (in piccata??), plus very standard steamed broccoli, a mound of rice, and black beans. There didn't seem to be any variation in the sides, no matter what the fish was. None of the food was actually terrible, just disappointingly dull and lacking in spark. It implied a tired, uninterested kitchen. Perhaps we should have had something fried instead--much harder to do badly.

I will say, however, that the service--when we got it--was very pleasant, and the space quite clean & comfortable and not overly noisy even when more people showed up. All in all, it reminded me of seafood restaurants from 25-30 years ago. It wasn't horrible, but I won't be going back.

“A nice surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013 via mobile

We only passed by this place a couple of times and it was always full of customers. Therefore,we decided to give it a go. We were pleasantly surprised with the menu. It is seafood but with a cajun/latin twist. We tried chef's special for the day -salmon in pesto/cashew sauce with mushroom filled tortellini and garlic bread and it was awesome!cajun tilapia was good too and the bread pudding was the best i have ever had. Service was awesome too. the location is great,it is great for dates, for family/bussiness dinners...we came with the baby in the stroller and there was plenty room for everyone. Make sure u make reservations though.

“very nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

Nothing fancy about the place, but not divey either. Just a good restaurant, no pretensions.

Very friendly staff, very accommodating.

Menu tends towards a Mexican/Caribbean flavor. For instance, black beans come with many dishes.
Some of us indulged and got fried fish -- calamari, sole, shrimp. These dinners came with fries, beans, and veggie.
Nothing over the top, just good food.
Price is nice, too.
Very pleased overall.

Next time we have a get-away to Monterey, we'll be back.

“Seafood”

Good and fresh seafood. Very popular restaurant. The time we visited the place was packed, I thought we had to wait long but we didn't. Service was quick too!

“excellent food quality, clean interior, superb service and reasonable prices.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

I ate there few times and found food quality to be fresh, tasty and well presented. Be careful when you order their fish and chips since the portions of fish served are really big with delicious Fries which offer slight sweet taste. The fish was delicious, crispy and very freshly prepared. The menu price was unbelivably very reasonable in this expensive town.
