“Pleasant stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

My fiance and I decided to just get away, so I looked up places to stay (within our budget) online and went through something like Hotels dot com. On these sites, You dont know where you are going to end up until you book it, so I was a little wiery. Booked it, got directions and off we went.
We arrived and we were both pleasantly surprised. Nice room with a small refridgerator, microwave and a good selection on the Cable TV lineup. The room was clean, the bed was good and it was quiet. No over-night partiers, loud noises. The loication is just a few blocks away from the ocean, near the tip of Pacific Grove. Nice little spot upstairs at the top of the stairwell that was closed off with plexi glass that you could sit outside, out of the elements (wind, rain, etc...) and enjoy the fresh air, have a drink or a smoke. They have a small breakfast for their guests... nothing too fancy, Belgian waffles, cereal, fruit, Cream of WHeat, coffee, juices, etc. Like I said, nothing too fancy,no eggs or sausage, but it served its purpose. I would go here again, as for the price, it is a good deal. I would grade this place as "above average", soley for the price, and location. Not "very good", but close. Recommended. Especially if you are on a tight budget and just need to get away for the night/weekend.

Old and Outdated. Like nightlights? All of the light switches have one. The armoire doors limit where you can sit and watch tv. The parking spaces are not assigned so you may not be able to park close to your room. Our room was next to the office and was a bit noisy. The staff was not all that friendly much less hospitable. We will nnever stay here again.

Room Tip: We won't stay here again.

Sorry to hear that your stay was unsatisfactory. We try our level best to accommodate each guest for their pleasant and comfortable stay. The TVs are new so they are swivel instead of the old ones. There are many options for the room types or floor levels. The hotel do not offer valet parking what so ever. Again we apologize for the inconvenience.

We stopped over for one night. The hotel is in a really nice residential area and close to the sea. The area is really quiet and a bit outside of town.

The room itself was nice and clean, even if a little quirky decor-wise. An acceptable breakfast was included. All in all, a nice place to unwind for a night or two.

I stayed here for 2 nights while on vacation and I had no problems whatsoever. The room occupancy was for 2 - it wasn't a huge room, but room enough for two. I can tell the bathroom had been recently remodeled and was nice and clean. My corner room was on the first floor, but I could still see the beautiful morning fog and once that cleared the ocean! Being from the mid west I didn't realize it was customary for many hotels along the water to not have A/C but this room had a ceiling fan and was plenty cool for me. The faux fireplace was a cute touch. I'm easy to please, so this place was just fine. If you are looking for an upscale hotel, this is not for you. Morning breakfast is always exaggerated on hotels websites, as was theirs. Cereal, toast, bagels, danish, juice, milk and water are available in the morning. Wake up early and take a walk around Pacific Grove (this hotel is right in the heart of the residential area) and take in the beautiful homes and ocean!

My family of 4 stayed one night at the Wilkies and we will never return. We all agree it was our worst hotel experience. I don't know if i have enough room here to tell you everything that went wrong. I guess it all began with paying $270 a night and when we pulled up we saw it was a hotel with only outside access...the internet pictures did not lead me to that conclusion however it was just one night and already paid for so we proceeded but it was all down hill from here.......very strong chemical smell when you walked in the room....outdated decor but that does not really matter to me.....lets talk about the ceiling fan that was on a timer and no aircondition so someone had to get up every hour or so and turn the fan back on because it got too hot......mold in the bathroom....sheetrock patchwork in the ceiling over the bed and shower...not tape and floated or painted just the sheetrock showing.....we were like wow really? 3am our neighbors decide to stand outside our door talking loudly and smoking.....no air condition so our windows were open and the smoke was coming in the windows. Hubby got up and asked them if they would mind being a little more quiet....they moved even if it was rudely.....The parking was atrocious. Not enough parking for all the rooms. We had a hard time finding a hotel room for Labor day weekend or we definitely would have left.
The next morning we told the front desk all our concerns and the man who called himself Jose was very unhelpful and rude. He refused to name his manager and would only say 'this is normal, all the hotels in this area are this way', really?

Room Tip: Do not stay in room 109 better yet do not stay at all.

We accommodate many guests each evening, and we strive to make their stay a satisfying one. Consequently, it's disappointing to learn that you're unhappy. Please accept our sincere apology. We want you to know that the comments and suggestions we receive from our
guests are taken seriously. They tell us what we're doing right, what we're
doing wrong and how we can improve. Your willingness to share your recent experience is genuinely appreciated. Please be assured that the issues you've raised have been addressed and the appropriate action has been taken. Please note the hotel does not have an elevator or an air-conditioning which is common in the surrounding area which was meant by our new employee Jose. Since he was new he was doing his very best to accommodate each and every guest during that weekend especially in this case where he checked in the guest around 10:30 am instead of our normal 3 pm and later. It was an unfortunate that we had some emergency situation happened especially when we were busy during Labor day. The work was completed except the paint which we had to delay due to fresh odor.

The room was extremely clean, and came with refrigerator and microwave. The staff was very nice. The area was quiet and pretty. I would stay again, definitely!! Very reasonably priced. So much better than the big, impersonal hotels! Thank you.
