“Fabulous place to walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2012

There is a boardwalk along much of this stretch that makes walking easy for most people. Stunning views, especially after a winter storm.

“Dog beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2012

Great area to visit beach and walk your dog or just enjoy the joy of the dogs of other people. Can get chilly, so take your warm jacket with hood. You can always carry it if you get hot!! But you don't want to get chilled.

“Amazing Blue Pacific”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2012

I went for the departmental retreat from Stanford to the conference-lodge of Asilomar, just across the state beach. This is so far one of the best state beach I have visited in Pacific groove. The beach is not at all crowded. You can walk on the near by rocks and discover the tiny sea-creatures. To me, the most attractive part is the huge waves, deep blue gorgeous wave..I am visiting soon.

“Nice drive, great place to look at marine life”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2012

Free, except for gasoline;~)

The drive itself is very nice. The beach is rocky and often very narrow, sometimes non-existant. You cannot walk the entire way from one end to the other without swimming (nor would you want to, it is a long way). The water is COLD. This is a protected marine reserve, so there is a lot of marine life to look at, but no collecting. Tide pools and rocks have chitons, sculpins, limpets, the occasional sea cucumber, lots of things you don't often get to see. There is also a boardwalk through the Asilomar Dunes preserve. Lots to see and look at. No public restrooms.

“Gorgeous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2012

This is an amazingly beautiful beach - walking and surfing for experienced surfers only - not a swimming beach - too rocky and the currents are unpredictable. Adjacent to Asilomar Conference Grounds.
