“Ditto on the raves”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2010

The Gables is impeccably and opulently furnished. The intimate gardens are lush. Common areas are not claustrophobic and you don’t get the feeling of intruding on anyone’s privacy. Each room is provided with binoculars, a nice touch. The staff is very professional and the service beyond reproach. The property hosts many guests, however, so it feels more like an elegant boutique hotel than a little B & B.

For our budget, this was easily the best place to stay on the Peninsula... on the water but away from crowds, in a classic Victorian setting. A very fine choice.

The Seven Gables Inn is a fantastic choice for those visiting the Monterey area. Rooms are stunning as is the entire property. The view is partially spoiled by the road just outside but just for those overly sensitive like me. Breakfast is wonderful with many choices and the happy hour has some excellent complimentary wines.

A gorgeous Victorian B&B located near Lover's Point in Pacific Grove. Spectacular views, wonderful service, delicious breakfast - plus complimentary wine and cheese every afternoon. Clean, decorated tastefully, friendly staff ... what more can I say? We will definitely stay here again!

Our friends treated my husband and I as a thank you and we had a wonderful weekend. Normally with older places like this I expect drafty windows or doors but everything was very well maintained and in great shape.
The staff was very friendly and you can't beat the view from the front house (there are binoculars in every window). I sat and watched a sea otter while having wine and cheese, you can't beat that.

We walked to the Aquarium along the beach and enjoyed the tide pools and beach right across the street.

The only thing you may want to consider is the syling. It is a B&B and lavishly decorated victorian thru art deco. I was never uncomfortable in my t-shirt and jeans and a number of other athletic people were also there but you also had some of the B&B style older crowd as well. Even though it's not my normal style the location and service is well worth the stay.

Every part of this guest house is excellent, the views, the food, the wine, the cleanliness, the bedrooms and even the gardens are exceptionally well maintained. This is our second visit in 2 years and it is just as good now as it was then.If you want a superb setting with unrivalled views and service we would both not hesitate to recommend this guest house highly enough.

My wife and I were driving the Pacific Coast Hwy never knowing where we were staying from night to night. We found the Seven Gables Inn online the night before and booked one night. When we arrived we loved it immediately and my wife wanted to stay a second night. When I checked the room we were in was already booked for the next night but they had another available, the staff told us they would move our bags the next day while we were out. The Inn is fabulous, the breakfast is great, the staff is outstanding, and the view of Monterey Bay is spectacular. We highly recommend staying at the Seven Gables for an experience you'll not soon forget.

My wife and I stayed in the Sea View Cottage Suite for our honeymoon and it was amazing! We selected this inn thanks to all of the positive reviews here at TripAdvisor and we could not have been more happier. For those that don't know, Seven Gables was featured in a Visa card commercial a few years ago, which you may recall after seeing the photos.

The inn is beautiful and elegant, both inside and out and sits directly across from the bay and Lovers Point Park, which is also beautiful. The suite was very large with a living area, dining area, huge master bedroom with private bath and private patio, and an optional second bedroom. The living area and master bedroom both have fireplaces. We loved the private patio, which had it's own fountain. This particular cottage only has limited views of the bay, but full views are available literally right outside your door. They do have other rooms with better ocean views if that is important to you, but we preferred the suite for our honeymoon.

The location is also great. It is perfect for walking by the bay and to Lovers Point. You can also rent bikes nearby, as well as kayaks at Lovers Point Beach. If you are visiting this area, a car is a must have just to see all of the natural beauty in the area. It is one of the most beautiful places in the world! Take 17-mile drive and HWY 1 to Big Sur and Carmel. Carmel has a nice beach and is a lovely town to walk around with lots of neat shops and restaurants.

I have stayed at some very nice hotels before, but I cannot think of any that are any better than Seven Gables. If you are looking for a romantic stay, look no further.
