Green Gables Inn is a lovely place with an ideal location and a wonderful view. We were there June 25/26 and stayed in the Balcony Room. It is a charming room with an enclosed sleeping porch, and a spectacular view of the ocean. The sleeping porch expands the room to the point luxurious. There is a built-in bed in the sleeping porch that is ideal for napping. Just opening the many windows and watching the otters in the surf below was fun. The room shares 2 baths with 2 other rooms, but it was never a problem and the baths were spotless and well equipped. Plenty of hot water, toiletries, and extra towels just in case you forgot yours. We were also provided with plush robes for our trips across the hall. Staff were all very friendly, helpful, and professional. The breakfasts were generous and tasty. Tea in the afternoon was very nice; cakes, cheese & crackers and wine. Sherry in the late evening and bottled water available 24 hours. The common rooms are gorgeous, with a gas fireplace, stained glass windows, and little tables in bay windows that make you wish you could stay there all day and skip the tourist thing. Monterey's Cannery Row is within walking distance, as is downtown Pacific Grove. This is the B&B you dream about staying in, so make your reservation far in advance and ask for the Balcony Room. We will be coming back someday.
