“Very nice stay a Centrella Inn.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2012

We stayed at Centrella for one night while in Pacific Grove. The Inn is beautiful. We each had a complimentary glass of wine and some snacks in the garden area upon arrival which was welcome after a couple hours in the car. Our room was very nice and comfortable. Breakfast was a choice of main breakfast and then scones, muffins and other goodies. Cookies were found later in the day for a nice treat. Not too far of a walk to the beach. Would stay again when in the area.

We spent the weekend at Centrella recently. The place is authentic, no question. Brass keys for the doors instead of electronic key cards. Breakfast is slightly better than good. A friendly staff makes the place welcoming. They're not especially bike friendly, as they have no real place to stash your bicycles, so plan on keeping them in the car. It's convenient to downtown Pacific Grove, and be sure to walk around the corner to Pepper's restaurant. It's an easy downhill walk to the water, and it's away from the main traffic. In good weather the patio garden area is a big plus. Beautiful rooms, but bathrooms could use a little repair work. All in all, highly recommended.

At first I was unsure about staying here because I was always wary of Bed & Breakfast inns. When we arrived we were kindly greeted by the front desk clerk, who was very kind and courteous. The atmosphere was classic antique chic which I love. Our room was so cute, we got the lovers loft and it had a romantic skylight above our bed. Breakfast was delicious, we chose a belgium waffle which was to die for,I almost wished I had another .We had a great stay.

Room Tip: Higher floors are less noisy

We stayed here on a trip down the coast of Oregon and Northern California. The Inn is refreshingly non-commercial and charming. Our room was comfortable and everything was very clean. The afternoon wine and crackers and breakfast in the morning were lovely and the food was excellent. The staff were very welcoming and went out of their way to make us comfortable. We were close to shops, restaurants and the Aquarium, which we visited after purchasing our tickets at the Inn(didn't have to stand in line either). Overall our experience here was the best of our trip and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Centrella Inn if you want a relaxing and comfortable place to stay.

Spent the President's Weekend at The Centrella Inn,, a 100 year Victorian B&B that is a National Historic Landmark. There are lovely quaint rooms, each with its own bath, in the inn and several cottages around the grounds. The stay includes an afternoon wine and hors d'oeuvres hour and a full breakfast. We stayed in the front room which is handicap accessible (as I was on crutches) and large, bright and sunny. The Inn is about 1 mile from the Aquarium and they have a 2 day pass for the price of one day so we were able to see everything and not get exhausted. Nearby is Vivolo's Chowder House where we had the best meal, better and less expensive than anything on Cannery Row. One block away on Lighthouse Ave. is A Niche In Tyme, wholesale and estate jewelry with great prices and an equally quaint brother and sister ownership. All said, a wonderful weekend.

A late-19th-century Victorian with three floors, many rooms, and several cottages situated around the large, attractive, and relaxing patio and garden. Location is convenient to the water and to downtown Pacific Grove, with easy driving to Monterey or Carmel. Our room was more than adequate. The shower, as others have mentioned, is a high-placed addition to an antique claw--foot tub. Not the most convenient, but it gets the job done (although a safety bar or two might not be a bad idea). Electric heater was efficient and easily controlled, and the windows opened for ventilation. The parlor area features comfortable chairs and sofa with newspapers and other reading matter. The TV is small and on only when someone wants to watch it. (As noted by others, the inn is not a spiffy, 21st-century luxury hotel; it is more on the lines of a B&B or guest hotel you would find in the British Isles.) Breakfast was more than adequate, fresh and well prepared. A menu offered choice of one entree from two quiches; a spinach, cheese, and mushroom omelette with a small portion of home-fries; oatmeal; OR yogurt-fruit parfait. Also available were orange juice, hard-boiled eggs, granola and another cereal, toast, bagels, cream cheese, butter, and English muffins. Coffee (not bad) and tea available all day. In short, plenty of good quality fare. Wireless worked fine. Staff were readily available, helpful, and amicable. If you think you'd enjoy a bit of a step into the past with the benefits of modern conveniences in a beautiful little town by Monterey Bay, this could be your place.
