I have to say, first off, that I love this hotel. I may be a little bit biased since I worked here, but I have also stayed in the rooms. After the renovation, there really is not any reason to complain. Yes it's right on the beach, and the room is very well appointed. Some rooms have better views than others, but that's what you get with an older property that can't physically move every room to a beach view. The waterfalls, lobby, and amenities make up for it. There is a huge pool, and hot tubs scattered throughout the property. They are, in fact, renovating everything in the hotel. The rooms are done--granite sinks, nice lighting, new carpets, everything. The lobby and meeting rooms are being worked on, as is the "surf room" (breakfast area). Speaking of the breakfast area, this IS an Embassy Suites, so do not expect a resort four course breakfast with champagne. Please keep in mind that they do offer the requisite hot breakfast, omelettes cooked to order, and everything from toast to rolls to danishes to oatmeal and fruit. The fact that it is included in the price of the room as well as the evening Managers Reception (alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, chips, salsa, popcorn, and sometimes more), makes it all the more reason to stay here. No, there is no shuttle here--and no, there is no public transportation right by the hotel. Then again, the hotel isn't near any major airports, so cars are pretty much a foregone conclusion. If you need to go anywhere else, the taxis are reasonable. As for the 15 a night parking, I currently work at a resort that charges 20 a night, and we are the least expensive in town. Parking as well here entails a private garage with an elevator to every building, and the garage is monitored by cameras and staff to ensure safety. One last thing--every single room has a pull out couch (queen), and either two full beds or one king bed in the separate bedroom. Every room has at least two bathrooms as well, which is a first and only in the Embassy Suites brand. It's not a new build Embassy, so again don't expect the typical Embassy room. For what it is, however, it has charm and is very beautiful.
As they say, ocean front rooms are nicer, but any room is good. There are presidential suites (3 ba...
