“Great service, but that's all.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

We chooe this hotel based on the reviews on this site. The reviews on the service are spot on; It is top notch. That is where the positives end. The pictures of the lobby are very deceiveing. The rooms and the rest of the facilities are outdated and small. The breakfast was not good and the room you dish up and eat in is small and dirty with horrible furniture. You can eat in the restaurant when it's open for overflow, but the buffet is so overwhelmed with people it's difficult to get in and out. The coffee is very bad, I went to the Starbuck next door after the first day. There was a group of teenagers with the car stereo's booming in the Best Buy on Staurday night and you could hear them unitl 4:00 am. The parking is miserable with the slots on the east side dangerously too small. I might try anohter Ayers due to the service, but not this one.

This was our first stay at the Ayres Inn and we could not have been more delighted. The hotel is just a few miles from Disneyland which puts you far enough away from the crowds, but just a few minutes away by their shuttle. We usually stay at the Doubletree across the street but for the price difference and the free breakfast and parking we got a GREAT bargain.

Our room was very large with a king, a sparkling clean bathroom with modern fixtures and a granite counter. The bed was comfy and warm. In the morning the hot breakfast was delicious and plentiful. There were eggs, pancakes, bacon or sausage, fruit, yogurt, cereal, bagels, toast, muffins, coffee, tea, juice and water. There were also delicious cookies at the front desk! Although parking was limited, they always had complimentary valet available and parking was FREE which is rare in the area. The folks at the front desk could not have been more pleasant. Each time we came or went we were greeted warmly.

We got our reservations through Priceline on a Name-Your-Own-Price bid at $79 per night. This was a fantastic deal -- highly recommended.

If you are going to Disney and want a nice, clean, not-too-far-away place to call home, you should consider the Ayres Inn. We will definitely be back!

I have to say...the first 2 nights were a little rough with the flow of traffic through the hallways (a high school band was staying and they had a 10:00 curfew). After that......everything was awesome! Breakfast was wonderful. EVERYONE at the desk was so friendly and very helpful. I have young children and had some unexpected laundry issues. I had packed laundry soap and quarters, but did not plan on issues that would stain clothes. They had saved stain remover and laundry soap from past customers that left them behind and let me use them. Thank goodness! Saved me because I had just paid a rediculous $30.00 for Buzz Lightyear jammies at Disneyland that would have been ruined by the time we got home to wash them. The staff was very informative and truelly a great crew. Thank you so much for making our first vacation, in forever, so memorable! P.S. I am also a Team Mom for 2 of my childrens baseball teams. Rotten timeing to be on vacation, but they faxed the uniform order forms.....free of charge. Thank you for relieving some stress! An awesome experience!!!!

This was a first time stay at this hotel for my husband and I. The room was very clean and housekeeping did an exceptional job each day. The free breakfast was very convenient and made for a quick start in the morning. The staff made sure to replenish the buffet and clear tables promptly. The wifi worked adequately for us although we had a problem connecting a few times. The only problem we encountered was with the lack of parking as mentioned in previous reviews. The first night (3/14/13) we came back to the hotel at around 11:00 pm. There were no empty stalls left and a few other guests were also looking for parking. There wasn't a valet on duty to assist us. The person working the front desk told my husband we would have to find our own spot. My husband asked if that meant that they didn't have enough parking for all the guests and he replied that it was the responsibility of the valet and not his. He said there would be no towing or ticketing so we should just find a place to park. We ended up parking in a red zone along with another guest. Each night this was the same situation. The good thing is that we could park the car but the bad thing is that this seems to be a safety issue. Aren't those red zones created to allow access in case of emergencies? The red zone we parked in that night may have prevented a large fire truck from entering the premises. Overall the Ayers Inn offers great value at an affordable price but we wouldn't stay there again until they can fix the parking situation. The valet is not available 24 hours and over loading the parking lot isn't safe.

Thank you for choosing the Ayres Inn Orange for your vacation! We are thrilled to read our staff's service exceeded your family expectations!
We apologize for the first two nights were a little rough getting through hallways. I am happy to read that you noticed that our group was given a 10pm curfew. We do that with all of our groups to ensure all of our guests' experience a great night's rest.
Thank you for sharing with our reviewers that our breakfast is great and that we have laundry facilities. I'd also like to add that we sell laundry soap boxes and drying sheets at the Front Desk for the convenience of our guests.
We look forward to seeing you again; hopefully a lot sooner than in 10 years!

We've stayed here several times now, and like everything about this property. Nice people, clean rooms, good location, nice decor with beautiful artwork. My only complaint is that the WiFi is very weak in the guest rooms (most recently on 5th floor March 11), so weak that in order to check my email on my iPad, I have to go down to the lobby. We will continue to stay here -- we're returning this weekend -- because it is the perfect place to be when we're in town to go to Chapman University baseball games.

Room Tip: Maybe the WiFi is better on the lower floors?

The staff gets a 5, the hotel gets a 3, so average to a four star rating. Here's the good and the bad...

Great

The staff here are outstanding, it feels like a four or five star hotel from that perspective.
The cookies on check-in were also a great treat after a long drive and long days at Disney.

So so

The rooms are clean, but are pretty dated and show a lot of signs of age and wear. Wallpaper peeling away, stains on the carpet, chips in the paint, etc.

It's hard to complain about a free breakfast, but it's only so so here. It was identical all five mornings, except the meat switched between sausage and bacon every other day. Other options were scrambled eggs, potatoes, some kind of rubbery pancakes, a melony fruit bowl, three types of cereal (raisin bran, cheerios, and oatmeal/granola?), toast, and bagels. Definitely wasn't bad, nor was it great.

The bad

Location - it's next to a hospital so you get a lot of sirens in the middle of the night, and is also adjacent to the freeway and a major highway so there is also a fair amount of traffic noise.

The pool - This is a temporary bad, normally I'd rate it as so so. It's very clean, but a little small. Since it's next to the freeway/highway it's a noisy pool area. Temporarily though, it's REALLY noisy as there is construction adjacent to the pool (about 10 yards away) as you can see in the picture. We were literally yelling to communicate with each other in the pool area. Not so relaxing.

Overall we were content with our stay, but the bads kind of offset the goods and we'd probably stay somewhere else next time.

My family stayed during a trip to Disneyland. Hotel was nice and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I forgot I bring band aids to prevent blisters and they gladly gave me some each day we were there. Breakfast was more than adequate. Eggs, bacon or sausage, pancakes, bagels, cereal and fruit more than we needed. Shuttle to the park was convenient and on time. Rooms were large and clean. Bed was very comfy with plenty of pillows. There were a few sirens with the hospital across the street but no more than in any large city I've stayed in. Would definitely stay again. Great value. They also held our luggage on check out day since we were going to visit the park and let us leave our car in the parking lot. Pleasant stay great vacation!
