“Disneyland trip for 14 (10 adults & 4 children, December 15-21, 2012”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

We managed to book this six night stay seven months in advance on a buy two nights get one free special. This saved us a lot of money as we had five rooms for our whole family and it allowed us to stay six nights instead of four or five.

The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. I liked the fact that the beds had full sized pillows, not the smaller ones I get at other hotels. One room had a slow drain in the shower and sink. The low flow toilets that are required in California are frusterating because they take several flushes to finish the job (not much water saving going on there).

The freshly baked cookies in the lobby each evening were good too. We felt like the breakfast was lacking in variety. Scrambled eggs, potatoes (not hash browns), pancakes, bacon one day sausage the next (all in hot plates), three types of cold cereal, bread and bagels for toasting, fresh cut water melon, honeydew, and canteloupe (usually under-ripened), milk, orange juice, coffee, or hot chocolate were the choices. But after six days I only managed a bowl of cold cereal the last day.

The ice machine on the sixth floor had ice one out of three tries, the other on the second floor was two for two (I only found the two machines). There was only one microwave on the second floor (how much would additional microwaves cost for a six floor hotel).

The parking seemed adequate, but usually quite full. I did notice a lot of ambulance noise (mostly in the daytime) for the nearby hospital and busy intersection. Access to the hotel is only available from the lanes of traffic next to the two sides of the hotel because of hard islands in the median, so you have to look for places to do legal u-turns from the far lanes of traffic.

We chose to drive to Disneyland rather than take the shuttle, as we weren't running three or five consecutive days that would have saved us money (the cost for parking three vehicles was the same as three non-consecutive shuttle days for ten adults and two children). A right hand turn on Chapman Ave, two miles down and a right hand turn on Harbor Blvd, then a mile north was all it took to get into the Disney Woody parking lot. The shuttles from the lot and Disneyland are almost constant, so our routine was very simple.

There are quite a few national chain restaurants within a mile or two of the hotel, like TGIFridays, Red Robin, and Outback, not to mention a Wendy's right next door.

The hotel was a block from I-5 north and south which made for very easy access, especially on our day trip to Sea World.

The pool and spa are outdoors, so using them in sixty degree weather wasn't very practical.

We'd definitely consider staying here again but now we know what to expect

Room Tip: Don't stay close to the elevator because the outside door shuts super hard and loud. Rooms on t...

I love this hotel. My husband and I have been staying there on multiple trips for over 5 years. It is great to see the same wonderful faces year after year which speaks so well of the management. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. The beds are the most comfortable we have found and we travel a lot! Breakfast is nice and I love that they offer California fruit every day! Very easy to get to and from Disneyland and other attractions.

We stayed this past Saturday night at the Ayres Inn Orange. This was our first time staying at an off-Disneyland property. We were tired of paying astronomical Disney Hotel prices and decided to try something new. I researched online and found the Ayres Inn Orange. It was a perfect deal. Very affordable and great accomodations. Parking is free along with breakfast which is a plus, especially compared to other hotels within Disney vicinity. The ART transit stopped right in front of hotel and was only $5 per adult and $2 per child for an all day pass! It dropped us off right in front of Disneyland! Seems as if it Disney parking lot and hotels were longer walks than this.

The room was very comfortable and had coffee maker and refrigerator in rooms. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, every person we saw. The yummy chocolate chip cookies in afternoon were a definete plus. Also, the breakfast was pretty good sized and delicious!. Would definetely stay here again!

The staff are super friendly and helpful.

The lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas and was warm and inviting and homey without being stuffy. There is constantly some cool water as well as coffee available which is nice.

The rooms were spacious and linens were crisp, white, and fresh, including the towels, that were ample and fresh. The pillows were comfortable and I had a better night's sleep than at home! The TV worked and had many channels, there was an adjustable thermostat which functioned great, and I did not hear any of my neighbors (if I had any). There was a coffeetable and couch area in my room that was great. The whole place was very clean.

I saw they had gym facilities but I did not use them.

Overall, I had a wonderful stay and recommend this place to solo travelers as well as families.

Our family stayed for two nights in November while visiting Disneyland. Room was clean with modern furnishings. The lobby was cozy with the fireplace lit, complimentary coffee, newspapers and fresh cookies, as well as ice water with lemon. The front desk staff was very accomodating with all our questions and requests. The pool was well heated and clean and fresh pool towels were provided. The bus to Disneyland picks you up right at the front door of the hotel and drops you off at the Disney entrance, so it is extremely convenient. You just purchase your bus ticket from the hotel desk. The complimentary breakfast buffet was lovely, with lots of variety and fresh quality items. We only wish our stay had been longer. We look forward to returning!
