We stayed at the Village at Squaw Valley from 8/4/08 to 8/9/08. Check in was quick and staff was courteous. Concierge service was accessible by phone and was rather poor. We payed extra for a room with a mountain view. The room was very clean and well appointed in a typical one bedroom condo style. It included a fireplace and lovely balcony. The view was spectacular and we enjoyed eating breakfast and having a late evening drink on the balcony each day. The only problem was the noise in the morning. The units are not air conditioned and due to the wonderful weather, having the windows open was a must. Each morning at 6:00 a.m. we welcomed the day with the sound of garbage trucks and delivery trucks right outside our window. I find this a bit odd considering the size of the facility and the fact that we payed extra for this room. The facility provides box fans which were quite loud and difficult to manage. Ceiling fans would add a lot to the stay. The Village includes many places to eat, lounge, shop and have refreshments. There are also a number of grocery stores and shops in Tahoe City, a short 5 mile drive away. The swimming and hiking available at High Camp ( a gondola ride up the mountain) were terrific. Single day charges ($28.00 per person for the ride and swimming access) were required to visit High Camp. We asked why multi day passes, common during ski season, were not available but did not receive an answer. The area has much to do and see. Wonderful restaurants such as (Chrissy Hill, Sol y Lago, Sunnyside, and Lone Eagle Grill) all include great views of Lake Tahoe, excellent friendly service, and terrific cuisine. We also ate at Plump Jack (located directly across from the Village) but found it rather ordinary and a bit overpriced despite its excellent reviews.
