“Convenient location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2010

We stayed here because we wanted to be close to the Point Reyes park, and its location was very convenient. We were out most of the time, so we just needed a place to sleep and clean up. It is a lodge, so we weren't expecting luxury, and it met our expectations. The rooms are comfortable and clean with nothing fancy - no TV or hairdryers. Breakfast was also basic, but good - although the home made banana bread was phenomenal! And, the restaurant next door was very good. As long as you are not expecting a luxurious resort, you shouldn't be disappointed.

We stayed at Point Reyes Seashore Lodge and really enjoyed our stay. Our room opened out to a grassy lawn and stream. The kids had as much fun playing by the stream as they did visiting the seashore. The do offer suite rooms for families and there are plenty of good dining options near by. While the decor could use some updating, I thought this was one of the better options for family accommodations in this area. We have a summary of our trip to Point Reyes at www.99places.com.

This hotel hits all the right notes. We stayed in the Garcia suite. A fireplace, a balcony, a sleeping loft, a large bathroom with views from the shower/jacuzzi tub. The room was filled with light and air and views of the Point Reyes hills. We ate dinner at the farmhouse restaurant next door and had a fantastic cioppino and cheese plate. The breakfast of coffee, pastries and fresh fruit was ample and delicious. The free wi fi added to our relaxation.

My husband and I took along out 3 and 1 year olds for an impromptu road trip from Oregon to San Jose to see friends. Literally last minute on the way home, we decided to travel home up the Coastal Hwy 1. We adored the tiny town of Olema, and as soon as we spotted the Point Reyes Seashore Lodge, I KNEW I wanted to stay there.

My husband went inside to check on rates and look at the rooms (it needs to be set up conducive to 2 young kids) and the manager showed him the Casa Olema Cottage while I waited in the car with the kids. She gave him a fantastic rate and when I walked in, I was so happy! What a great cottage - it was perfect for us! Everything was clean, the double head shower in the pretty tiled bathroom, the hot tub, the large private back patio. The grounds here are amazing! We got gorgeous photos with the kids.

The breakfast in the morning was very nice, fresh fruits and juices, good coffee. We got to sit in the fireside room by ourselves and just enjoy the morning. The Farmhouse restaurant was overpriced, but the menu was nice. I enjoyed the local BBQd oysters.

I would love to go back some day!

Thank you for your kind review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We try to get it right and nothing makes us happier than to hear the 100's of compliments that we receive every month, but so very few take the time to put them on Trip Advisor.

We hope to see you again!

My wife and I decided it was time for a "Corvette Run" to get away from the heat of Sacramento. I spent most of the Friday looking for the right place for our getaway and decided on the North Coast near Stintson Beach. I found the Point Reyes Seashore Lodge in the town of Olema and booked "The Last Room". I did a Map Quest for Olema and we left early morning on Saturday with my wife not knowing our destination. We pulled into Olema about 1pm and went into a charming restaurant named The Farm House. We ordered lunch at the bar and had a great crab salad and had a great time chatting with the bar tender Tim. I aked if they were familiar with the Point Reys Seashore Lodge and if it was close by. Tim said to go out the door, turn left, and walk 15 yards and you are there. This is a wonderful lodge with a great staff. The grounds out in back are very serene and we enjoyed a bottle of wine and me a fine cigar. After a wonderful dinner next door at the Farm House we retired to our room. opened the windows for a crisp cool breeze and let the fireplace. Romantic? You bet. Sunday morning we found a great breakfast awaiting us downstairs and a choice of two Sunday newspapers. A great experience and we look forward to our next "Corvette Run" to Olema.

We stopped at this 'lodge' after driving from SFO. We were told we were getting the last available room and the woman at the counter seemed bothered we didn't have a reservation. As I was walking through the lobby 5 minutes later with luggage, a couple came in and the same woman told them she had 'one room left'. She looked up and saw me and turned away rather quickly.

Our room was on the upper floor and was two levels. The bathroom was nice enough - with a large shower featuring two shower heads. No hair dryer, average amenities.

The bedroom was large enough - but the furnishings were worn and tired. The queen bed was so uncomfortable that had we not passed out from a day of traveling from the east coast - we would have not slept at all. Woke up sore and cramped.

Gabi checked us out the next morning and was quite personable and fun.... totally different from the woman the night before. Breakfast was kind of European; however, the bread reminded you where you were~!

Too expensive for what it is. And - I don't like being lied to.

Thank you for sharing your review - after checking with the front desk we discovered that there was no intention to "lie" but there was merely a last minute cancellation. We apologize if you misinterpreted us.

Since your stay with us, we have upgraded many beds to comfy pillowtops and continue to do so. I see that you took many photos of our Wisteria - isn't it just lovely? We have white wisteria in the back of the Lodge.

This was our second trip to the Pt. Reyes Seashore Lodge. We went in August, 2007 and stayed in the Audubon Suite which was two stories tall with a sitting room below and the sleeping area in a loft above. We returned this March with our 2-year-old son and stayed in a Fireplace room on the second floor. The rooms were comfortable, although there were a few upkeep issues in the bathroom. There are no TVs in the rooms, which we appreciated, although this may be a problem during bad weather. The hotel is charming and very comfortable. The room was quiet, although we did hear the occasional motorcycle in the early morning. The staff was friendly; they helped us to our room and offered dinning and recreation suggestions. The included breakfast was more than adequate with bagels, fruit, yogurt, cereal, and lovely pastries. The location of the Lodge is great and the grounds/views are picturesque. The grassy area and stream were great areas to play with our son. You can easily walk to the Pt. Reyes' main Visitor Center along a beautiful little .5 mile trail.
After only a one night stay, we returned home feeling refreshed and as though we had been on vacation for almost a week. We look forward to returning.
