“Restoration, natural beauty and relaxation.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

This was our third trip to the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. We live in Santa Barbara and it's the perfect not-so-far getaway for special occasions. We took our young children this time and the hotel is very family friendly, but you don't feel overwhelmed by families and the ones there were very respectful of the fact that this is a tranquil place. We spent hours in the jacuzzi and pool, playing tennis, and exploring the grounds. I took a yoga class and visited the spa for a few hours and loved every second. It was a birthday and we all had beautiful gourmet cupcakes awaiting our arrival. The rooms are very comfortable and quaint with pretty Spanish tiles in the bathrooms. The amenities are very good. The landscaping, mountains in the background are surreal, like you are walking in a painting. The service is very professional from the front desk to the spa to the gift store - every single person I encountered was friendly and helpful. There is plenty to do in Ojai if you have a few days to spend here. There is a lot of hiking in addition to the resort activities. A lot of artists live here and you feel that in the downtown area where you can pick up beautiful hand-made art at places like "Made in Ojai." We know we will keep going back for many years to come.

The enchanting buildings from the 1920's and captivating gardens, set among ancient spreading oaks and ageless hills, give this beautiful resort a timeless elegance that has been maintained exquisitely and enhanced with all the modern touches without losing any of the authenticity or grace of an earlier era. I wasn't expecting the relaxed way the facilities are arranged along a ridge on the 220-acre property, giving the impression of varied gardens and views everywhere. Keeping cars at the periphery makes for a quieter, more pleasant, more relaxing -- but, thanks to the attentive staff and their golf carts -- no less convenient place. Even if you don't play golf or tennis, swim or use the spa, come for the views and exquisite gardens and trees. If you DO want to enjoy the abundant amenities, you're in for a real treat! I really can't imagine a more relaxing, comfortable, captivating place for leaving behind the hustle and bustle and getting serious about truly elegant R&R.

The Ojai Valley Inn is a must stay. It is the perfect place to relax. Beautiful grounds and Spanish architecture are ideal for finding a quiet spot to watch the sunset while enjoying a bottle of wine. The herb garden pool had great service, food and drinks. The staff in general were extremely welcoming and helpful. One of the managers, Sean, went out of his way to ensure my wife and I had the perfect weekend.

We will absolutely be back!

This property is one that touches all of the senses. It's beautiful, the views are beyond words, the rooms are fabulously thoughtful and comfortable - think "sink-in", the staff is highly service oriented, the spa is luxurious, everywhere you go it smells like lavender, the grounds are full of color and warmth. They really have made it so you don't have to think about a thing... just relax!

The rooms are gorgeous, the bathrooms are large and warm, the porches all have wonderful views, the beds are oh so comfy and the housekeeping team is intuitive.

Go . . . Just go . . And make sure you extend a day longer than planned, you'll be glad you did.

I can't wait to return to the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. We spent one night there on our way to Santa Barbara to visit friends. It wasn't nearly enough time to explore all the beauty and activities at the Inn. The restaurant choices are great, the spa treatment menu and class list is fantastic, something for everyone, and there's golf and tennis. The view from our room was magnificent and the patio divine. I will definitely go back to this lovely and well run hotel.

A rambling, hillside resort of comfortable large rooms and bungalows, great food, discrete service, and amazing sunsets. Challenging golf course, nice walks through California oak forests, quirky arts studios in the city center, and beautiful blue skies. An hour from Los Angeles, but it feels like a world away.

Room Tip: If you want to be alone, choose a lower level room. And ask for a room with a view.

Old fashioned service and attention to detail. This is a wonderful relaxing resort that offered us ambiance and a southwestern style. The staff are wonderful. We stayed in the historic building which was lovely but not opulent. The grounds are a great place to walk around and rejuvenate. The spa was nice but I was surprised by how large and impersonal it was on a Saturday afternoon.

Room Tip: The Valley views are nice
