“Good basic motel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2007

This is a good choice for a night or two. It's a basic motel with a nice pool and hottub. The AC unit in the room was a bit noisy (it rattled) but we got some good sleep anyway. The room was clean. Continental breakfast was by the pool and offered a good selection. I appreciated the ripe local peaches - a nice touch. I always ask for the upper floor of any motel to lessen the chance of noise, and this request was honored. The front desk staff was friendly and suggested a good place for carry out pizza (Bocalli's). I'd stay here again.

Casa Ojai met all of our expectations. Our rate was reasonable and the room was a good size, well furnished and exceptionally clean. We enjoyed the pool and spa as well as the fact that shopping and a number of excellent restaurants are so close by.

Casa Ojai is a great little getaway for those looking for a tramquil weekend. The staff is friendly and eager to assist you and the Manager, Christopher, goes out of his way to make sure his guests are happy. The continental breakfast is tasty and MUCH better than most breakfasts at other hotels and the rooms are charming. Whenever I'm ready for a weekend getaway, I stay at Casa Ojai.

I do not agree with divine diana. I have been blessed to stay in many different resorts in many different beautiful countries. I found that our stay at the Best Western in Ojai was a pleasant surprise. I was expecting typical motel however this place was great. First the rooms were spacious, very clean, pool was very clean, the staff was welcoming and very attentive!!! I highly recommend this place. Christopher goes all out and has the gift of hospitality!! Like I said I have stayed in many 5 star resorts and this place was great value for the money. Divine Diana sounds picky!! She could have spent another 300 dollars a night at some other place. I didnt have to spend more money and I enjoyed my stay @ BW my kids even loved it there and they have been to the faniciest pools in Hawaii
Way to go Best Western Ojai we would go there again
Love the
Quinlan family

The front desk was nice, the price was ok for the area, and the room was typical large motel style. The pool and hot tub were fulll of bugs, the in-room refrigerator would have been great except we had to unplug it because it was so noisy. The beds were old, and linens and bedspread old and tired. The free wireless went out and so did the cable tv for one night and then workmen were outside our room ready to dig up the concrete to fix the cable at an early hour. The front desk offered to move our room and have them start at 10 am the next day. The place was pet friendly but a big disappointment for being #2 in popularity.

  • Liked — best price for location close to town of OJAI across street from good day spa
  • Disliked — noise and bedding

Dear divinediana:

That was a hectic week with high winds and cable problems out of our control. Although we have an out side pool service that filters the pool twice a week, our on-site staff also cleans the pool as much as possible and with the high winds, it sometimes is very difficult to always have a clean pool. As far as the cable goes, they had to tear up concrete and repair the cable underground. We had the cable contractor scheduled to do this work after 10am, however, I apologize that they started earlier and parked near your room. We did everything we could to pull them off until 10am. Again, I apologize for these inconveniences since this is not typical of ones stay at Best Western Casa Ojai and please contact us for you next stay in Ojai so that we can make sure that your stay is the best!

Regards, Management

My wife and I stayed at BW Casa Ojai one night in December. We were so accustomed to having a refrigerator at other Best Westerns that we were surprised to check our confirmation and find that a refrigerator was not included in the long list of amenities. While we were in the office, a lady guest came in to complain that the refrigerator in her room had failed, and her food was spoiled. She asked for a replacement unit, but there was none. The man at reception was very helpful putting our ice-pack in the freezer near the reception area, and we used an ice bucket to keep things cold. The window air conditioner/heater switch was under a table placed near the window, and to see the dial we had to crawl under the table to turn it on and off. The buffet breakfast was good, and the room rate was more than reasonable. We would stay there again, but we would ask for a refrigerator.

Dear Staidthere: We are very sorry for not being able to support a refrigerator in your unit. Not all units have the new systems in place at this point during our remodeling efforts. We were scheduled to install the new thermoelectric units which are more "green" and energy efficient, however, we have had problems with these units not keeping food cold enough. We should have all new refrigerators in shortly as soon as we work out the kinks with this new type of system. Until then, approx. 90% of our units have the older type of compressor refrigerator. Sorry for the lack of frige, however, I am glad to hear that you would come back and I look forward to that. Best regards, Casa Ojai Mgt.
