“Dinner for two”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

We have been to Ojai every year for the last 7 years and have yet to come up with a place we would eat a second time except at our resort. This dinner was lovely. The waiter started out a bit shakey but we cut him some slack and he recovered. Tapas were yummy, had Brie and the Calamari, Brie was exceptional! I had the chicken and my husband had the flank steak. The chicken was so juicy and flavorful and I am a picky diner while my hubby would give everyone 5 stars, haha! The hostess suggested a great bottle of wine at $33 a bottle, wow! We will definitely dine here again.

Ps: gelato was great!

“Nice setting, interesting, creative fod”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

Azu offers an ambitious menus with some hits and a few misses. The decor is lovely with prints by a local artist on the walls, natural wood floors, bare brick walls and nicely appointed. Our salads were delicious, especially the arugula with crunchy Serrano ham. The artichoke caprese was delicious. The vegetarian paella could have been a bit more seasoned, but what else could paella be without the seafood? Gelato was a disappointment, not as smooth as it should have been, there were ice crystals in it, not acceptable. Certainly one of the better restaurants in Ojai.

“Late food and poor service plus sour salad!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

We ate at Azu based on a local recommendation and were very disappointed. One item ordered was not available, which happens, but that caused a snowball effect of half of our orders being VERY slow. The waiter wasn't really apologetic and didn't offer anything to make-up for our very long wait until the very end when he gave us 20% off of the total. He should have compensated us right away and been much nicer about it. Two of us had the roasted beet salad, and the dressing was so tart you couldn't taste anything but. We were going to order dessert but decided to skip it because we didn't want to spend any more money there or tip the waiter any more than we had to.

“Fabulous Food - Wonderful Gelato!”

Had a business dinner at the restaurant - the paella was fantastic!
Great wine cellar - where we sampled really good Ojai Valley wine.
