“Excellent BBQ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

We found this cute BBQ and ate 3 meals during our one week stay in Ojai. We sampled the tri tip, pulled pork and their home made sausages and really can't pick a favorite as
they were all exceptional. Great service, good food and a friendly owner made us keep coming back. We can't wait for our next trip to Ventura county to stop here again.

“Great food, atmosphere a bit below so so.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2012 via mobile

First night in Ojai, looking for good food, good price in a relaxed environment. Found this spot in Ojai magazine. Looked it up on Trip advisor and was sold when I heard about pulled pork and tri tip sandwiches. Food is deliscious! Both tri tip and pulled pork, also had onion rings and curly fries. Environment is neighborhood bar/sports bar with patio. Nothing in the least bit fancy. The service is so so. We entered the bar and it was full. Sat ourselves in patio. Waitress mediocre, she was attentive but not super friendly. We were treated as out of towners- which we are but I felt she could have done a better job making us feel a tad welcome. This place is definitely a relaxed local hangout. Go for the food! Not the environment ;)

“Local Yocals”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2012

The TripAdvisor address says Ojai but if you are a local you know it is really in Meiners Oaks down the road and around the corner. Situated at the corner of Roblar and Lomita, it is a little difficult to find because it sits at the back of a building that fronts on Roblar. But finding it is worth it.

We were first attracted to this restaurant because a local magazine had a coupon for "buy one entree, get 50% off the second entree". After missing the driveway the first time, we pulled in to the back parking lot. There was a tent off the back of the building that they use as an enclosed patio and which, amusingly enough, was set up with a TV.

We decided to sit at the bar, however, which is where we can always get the low down on what is going on. The bar is festooned with NFL regalia but mostly slanted to the Pittsburgh Steelers which gives you some indication of the ownership. There are three TVs above the bar with two additional TVs in the corners. We could see where this was a great set up for football season.

As we sat perusing the menu it became apparent that the bartender knew the majority of people in the room. There was talk of the restaurant catering a local gal's 40th birthday party that evening that many of the people in the bar intended to attend. The owner/cook came out front a couple times to talk to some of the patrons he knew. A very comfortable atmosphere.

My wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich. I had the BBQ sausage sandwich. Both were perfectly cooked. We added a small order of onion rings for $3.95, a couple of cold draft beers and our BBQ meal was delightfully satisfying.

If you want a homey location with good service and great food, this may be the place for you.

“Peppery, saucy, moist and Better: Service, atmosphere and BBQ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2012

MeinersOaks,ElRoblar, signto the Right. Confusing entrance:kitchen door open,.I'd close it or use a screen door. Lured by the smoky fragrance: I thought"What's that, little BBQ chicken? Try you, and some Tri-Tip slices, along with the sausage? Twist my arm." Chicken: moist, saucy, addictive. One pound of grilled sausage, graciously cut up, was juicy, smoked and peppery. Had it again with eggs in a morning burrito.Price for sausage reasonable: around $10.95/pound. Grilled tri-tip,to die for. Bacon-wrapped ribeye, decadent as you could imagine-moist, tender, fatty, crazy-good. I had to cut the fat off to eat it-so flavorful. Usual sides available- I had cole slaw and beans. The last thing I thought I would love is those beans, of this entire tasting menu. They were wilderness, starlight, Creek Road, childhood memories of sage, and mustard, Mom, and ham bones. I put the bacon ends into the beans and heated them up the next day-amazing. Just get the beans and you'll be very happy. The bar was dark and quiet, with a few locals enjoying TV. They have a trivia night, and a lovely area for dining outside. Don't be afraid of the Bad Wolf! You could easily feed four to six folks under $50.00.
