4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2010

My sister and I came to Ojai on a girls getaway, and decided on the Lavender Inn after looking at options on the internet. We liked the ability to choose our room in this well-maintained and nicely decorated B&B. We arrived late at night, and found a note from the manager with instructions on how to enter. We tiptoed to our room , at the top of the stairs. It was the Craftsman, with bath, overlooking the frogpond in the large and lovely garden. The B&B has 7 rooms in the house and also has a 2-room cottage, which was perfect for a couple with dogs. Sis updated her Facebook page while waiting for coffee to be available at 8 am, and a sumptious breakfast at 9. We enjoyed visiting with the manager/cook and the other guests over breakfast. The Inn is an easy walk to all of the town's shops and restaurants, and to a variety of spa options. Each afternoon at 5 pm we were ready for the wine and cheese social, and more socializing with guests.

We rented the cottage, and had such a great time spreading out and enjoying our own private patio yard. The staff was warm and friendly and gave us great recommendations as well. Food- fantastic. The grounds and gardens were lovely and the experience overall just felt like home. Treat yourself right, splurge on the cottage and settle in for a peaceful and lovely time.

Service is friendly and respectful. The staff does a great job to make you feel at home. The rooms are clean and the beds are very comfortable. The setting is close to all your entertainment needs yet you feel that you are remoted in the country. a very relaxed enviornment makes this a great escape.

The only suggestion I have is that you please get the leaky faucet fixed in the Garden Suite (#3). Not only is it wasteful, but the dripping sound is annoying. Otherwise, a perfect experience.

This was the first B&B we've ever stayed in. What a treat! The town is beautiful and the Inn is in the perfect location. We had a well designed/ styled room with a private balcony overlooking the garden and a big old comfy bed with quality linens. I enjoyed a prenatal massage by Anna which I highly recommend, she has a magic touch. We were steps away from the farmers market which is every Sunday and has great people watching. There are all kinds of goodies, be sure to pick up some Ojai honey which is the best honey around. Later, we were given passes to the Athletic club which has a great big pool ( heated in the winter) with mountain views. Well worth the easy walk or drive over.
Highlights- gourmet breakfast, not your standard eggs and coffee
Wine and cheese by the fireplace- very romantic
Rainbow bridge across the street for smoothies- Mama cravings.
Walking distance to everything downtown- movie theater, restaurants, shops... leave the car parked
The staff is wonderful and fun to chat with.
My boyfriend and I really decompressed. We had been so busy in the past months, this trip gave us the opportunity to slow down and enjoy the little things. I can't wait to come back in the summer with our baby!

We stayed for 2 nights in the Treehouse room and had the most magical, comforting weekend ever. Vanessa greeted us warmly with great recommendations - Azu (tapas and wine!); a hike to natural hot springs - and she made the most wonderful breakfast in the morning. The garden is very pleasant and we thoroughly enjoyed the 5-6pm wine/cheese hour in the evening. We LOVED it here and think you will find yourself wanting to spend lots of your visit at the back in your room or around the Inn grounds.

Even though i had a quick overnight stay for business, i felt so relaxed and at home i didn't want to leave. The Inn is immaculate, charming without being overly cute and is surrounded by romantic gardens. I couldn't recommend it more, and would return in a heartbeat. It is located steps from downtown (if you could call it that) Ojai, but on a quiet street, so you can park your car and walk everywhere.
