I booked this hotel online based on location and price. Location was fine. Even though it is on a highway, that didn't turn out to be a problem.
What did bother me was the quality of the room. The water pressure was minimal and spotty. All the faucets had hot water on the left and cold on the right. The sink faucet was loose and rattled when I turned a handle. The towels were so thin and worn. The room gave us four. My husband needed one for his short hair and one for his body, I needed two for hair and one for body. Luckily, they did give us extras upon request. The soap was a piece of wax. After going to the beach, I need to wash off! This soap didn't do anything! No lather!
At about 3:00 am, I was awoken by some people above us (I was on first floor) having a loud party, jumping, screaming, having fun, etc. I know Camp Pendelton is nearby, and the kids want to have a good time - fine. But I think by 3:30, they should let the other guests sleep. I started to go outside to tell them to keep it down, but when I realized the Marines were druink, I didn't want to get into it with Marines. So I called the front desk to have them stop the problem. I got a NOT HOME voicemail. Who am I supposed to call when people are shrieking all night!?!?!? Around 4:30, they calmed down, but due to the creaking in the celiing when they walked or moved their suitcases, it was too loud to sleep anyway. Another thing that made it too loud was the frequent cycling on and off of the air conditioner. It was so frequent and loud that it kept us both up.
The jacuzzi in the room was quite nice - no problems there.
The lack of sleep really ruined my relaxing beach vacation.
When I checked out in the morning, I told the front desk (the owner?) my problems. He said he never got my message that I left at about 3:30 in the morning! I dialed the hotel operator at 3:30 am, and when I checked out at 10:30, they had never heard my message!!!!
I didn't even see the continental breakfast they offered, I was so annoyed and tired I just wanted to go home.
The price was right, but next time I will pay $20 and go down the street to a reputable budget motel chain like Days Inn or Motel 6
