“Nice location, good beach, unfortunate ending”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2009

We visited NCV in February and stayed in C-102 for four days. Unfortunately, the condo was dirty when we arrived, but was cleaned the next day. The condo was comfortable with fine view of ocean. The complex was great with plenty to do for our kids. The staff was friendly and helpful with questions. Although our experience at NVC was enjoyable we have been not been able to receive our security deposit back from Arthur and Slilo Stewart after many attempts. As a result, I would recommend a stay at NVC but that you not rent this condo from them.

We have been vacationing at North Coast Village for 9 years, and this was the best condo yet! Unit D27 is in a perfect location, it was very clean, and seems newly renovated. The property it self is also beautifully maintained. It was the perfect condo to enjoy watching the sunset each evening while enjoying our dinner on the patio. The help we received from Pamela Hayes @ Paradise By The Sea was wonderful! We had contacted Pamela after our original condo we had reserved in the 'F'bldg suffered fire damage. Her #1 priority was making sure our family vacation was exactly how we had hoped it would be Wonderful! I would highly recommend Pamela - www.paradisebythesea.org She has several beautiful condos at NCV available in different areas of the complex. I'm sure your vacation will be as wonderful as ours was!

Dear Jen,
WOW! What compliments! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with literally..... the WORLD!
I was so sorry to hear your vacation may not have happened due to the fire and so glad I had this condo still available for you.
I am also very grateful for the care you took of the condo as well, you left it in exceptional condition.
I have been very blessed this summer with great guests and you are welcome back anytime.
Thank you for choosing "Paradise by the Sea".
Warm Regards, Pamela

We stayed a week here with our extended family. 3 adults and two kids shared a two bedroom, two bath unit, and 2 adults and 2 kids stayed in a single unit. Both were clean and comfy, with plenty of room for everyone. The condos are right on the water and short walk to the beach for swimming and playing in the surf. There is shopping, dining and touristy attractions within short walking distance. The units do not have AC, but the ocean breeze was more than sufficient to keep it comfortable, so we didn't miss it. The kitchens are well-equipped with all appliances, dishes, pans and some basic condiments and spices, so we ate several meals in. Condos are stocked with a variety of games, beach toys, DVDs, etc. The grounds are very beautifully kept and serene. The pool is large and a big hit with younger kids, in particular. Our unit faced the pool, so that was convenient but it could be noisy in the afternoon and evenings. All buildings have a laundry facility with plenty of machines. There is a small gym which is sufficient but not very well stocked. This is a very comfortable place for a bigger group or family to stay. North Coast Village is not upscale, but has very nice amenities, and is a friendly, safe, laid back place. 30 minute drive to San Diego and 75 minutes to LA (off-peak hours) make this a convenient place for sightseeing in the area.

We stayed in G-116 - this is an excellent two bedroom unit with full kitchen, three TV's - two of them flat screens, DVD/VCR and CD players, nice patio with BBQ grill, two bathrooms, King Bed in master with two doubles in the other - and a sleeper sofa in the living room - so I guess it could sleep 1 to 8 people - plenty of closet space too -

The location was easy to get to parking, pool, and beach - lots of scenery from this room too - overlooks bay area but you can clearly see the beach as well- plus some garden areas - the garden areas are magnificent with flowing streams, waterfalls - and I mean lots of streams - not just one - - they are all over the complex - lots and lots of pretty flowers and great landscape - well lit areas for walking and strolling - felt very secure at night - even in the parking areas -

Someone in another review commented on the trains - we could see the trains daily, but rarely heard them and they don't run at night - so I personally did not have a problem with them and I am a very light sleeper and we slept each night with the windows open just because it was so refreshingly cool in the evening - we did not need the A/C on once the whole time

The pool is huge - and the Spa was always warm and inviting - the complex has security gates everywhere that are remote activated for quick access, yet privacy - there is also a work out center, ping pong, billards, putting green and other sports options.

Our room came with beach chairs, boogie boards and play toys for small children too - lots of CD's and DVD movies available in the room, and a variety of board games for evening activities - the living room has a nice gas fireplace with a timer on it - great for those cooler beach evenings - the kitchen has everything you need for cooking and preparing meals - nothing was missing - we never had to say - gee I wish we had... - because it was all there - well thought out by the owners. There are two phones in the unit - local calls are free - there is free Wi Fi available too - but we did not bring our laptop

The complex is so close to the beach it is wonderful for walks, frisbee, surfing, or sea shell collecting - you can actually walk out of the paths of the complex right onto the beach - there is a pier to the south - about a ten minute walk for fishing and a restaurant at the end of it - great ice cream there - plus mcDonalds under the pier - also several restaurants in the bay area just north of the condos - including several fish restaurants, coffee houses, ice cream and shopping - lots of boats to look at in the harbor too - it is a great and fun place to relax -

Our only complaint was our own fault - we booked it for one week and should have stayed for two - next time we will stay longer - it was that great - I am originally from California but live in the mid west now - so I know California and especially San Diego and this is a wonderful vacation spot - about 30 minutes north of the San Diego airport, close to shopping in Oceanside and Carlsbad and wonderful restaurants of every variety - about 25 minutes to Sea World and the San Diego Zoo as well as the Wild Animal Park - only about 15 minutes to Leggo Land and probably an hour to Disney Land - there is also an airport in Carlsbad that I think has two airlines landing there - so if you flew in there, these Condos would only be about ten minutes away -

I would highly recommend this unit to anyone interested in a great beach vacation or a relaxing pool and garden vacation with fabulous views - the sunsets alone from this unit are worth the reservation!

Parking a problem. 2nd car can only park 24 hours without moving to non-existant location $50.00 fine if not moved. We came here to enjoy the beach not to play car parking musical spaces. Staff arrogent and unbendiing. Train noise unacceptable due to proximity to train tracks. Unit needs repair and cleaning before further occupancy.

We have stayed at North Coast several times but, this condo (G-325) was our favorite. It had everything we needed for the week, including washer and dryer. Welcome basket was a fun surprise. The pool and jacuzzi are enjoyed as much as the beach. Walk down the pier and eat at Ruby's. The only time we got in the car was to go to Legoland (fun for young kids and only 10 miles away). On that same exit we discovered a strawberry patch (eat and pick at the same time). The kids loved that. The kids thought it a treat to have tvs in their rooms. We ate breakfast every morning out on the upper balcony while we watched the surfers. The balcony and view were wonderful. Condo was clean and had new carpet. Pamela at www.paradise by the sea. org was very helpful.

We were very pleased with our stay at North Coast Village, Unit B 324. Pamela was such a pleasure to work with. The complex was well-located for a reunion with our Marine returning to Camp Pendleton from Iraq. It is close enough for easy access to the base, yet gated and quiet. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the pool and hot tub were clean and inviting. Our condo was clean and comfortable, and equipped well beyond our expectations-- massage chair, abundant towels, beach needs, etc. The beds were awesome.
If we have another opportunity to visit this area, we will not hesitate to contact Pamela. There are lots of good pics and info at her website, paradisebythesea.org.
