“Would go back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012

Family vacation. Had 3 of the 1 bedroom condos. All clean and well stocked. Had minimal ocean view. Nice pools. Will try to sell you a timeshare. Have to know how to say NO. Staff friendly and helpful. About a 5 to 7 minute walk to the pier and about 10 minute walk to the beach. Easily do-able with small children. There is a train that runs along the rear of the property but did not bother us. Easy access to highway. Oceanside does have a lovely pier with assorted shops and good restaurants. Nice beach.

We have stayed at this resort many times and each time is a little different. This time we stayed in a studio due to the lack of one bedroom availbility. The resort grounds are beautiful and very well maintained - Birds of Paradise in bloom against lush green grass - large and small palm trees, and the ocean in the background. What could be better? I'll tell you - sound proofing.
The location is sandwiched in between Interstate 5 and the beach, but with train tracks between the resort and the beach. This is by far the noisiest resort we have every stayed at. The commuter train which runs between downtown San Diego and Los Angeles runs constantly and the freeway is also constant noise. If Worldmark wants to improve the property, rather than landscaping and painting, they should replace the windows with triple pane, and change out the doors to a sound deadening type. That would help this place immensly. That being said, the rest of the experience here is usually always good. The real downside to this resort and all of the other Worldmark resorts is that Wyndham has installed their high pressure sales pitch when you check in. Check in is painless, but then you hear those dreaded words -"you have to go over to the other desk to get your parking pass." This is nothing more than a ploy to get you to attend an "owners update" where you will be hammered by slick salesmen to buy credits. The Worldmark resort system uses a credit system whereby you buy a certain number of credits which then can be used to stay at any of their numerous locations. Usually politely turning down the offer to attend a meeting will set you free, but the pot is sweetened when the desk agent offers you a $75 American Express gift card to attend. They will promise you the meeting is a no obligation 45 minute presentation. I can tell you that I have been a Worldmark owner since 1995, and have attended many of these presentations - none have ever been 45 minutes - they usually last a minimum of an hour and a half, and sometimes longer. If you have the time, and the will power to say no, then it is a way to pick up a free gift card. Be aware, however, that you will be sacrificing a good chunk of your valuable time.
The resort is currently undergoing remodeling and updating, which is a good thing. The renovated rooms feature nice furniture and carpeting, all units have a washer and dryer, and usually granite countertops.
All in all, this is a nice resort with a great location half way between LA and San Diego. Just remember to bring ear plugs.

Room Tip: Worldmark is a private resort, but you can stay as a guest if you know someone who is an owner. Che...

We stayed here during spring break, and had a nice time. Some positives are also negatives...location. Very near Oceanside Harbor and the beach, but also the train tracks. (Who knew there were so many trains going thru Oceanside!) We stayed in a 2 bed- 4th floor unit in the middle of the resort and had a very nice view. There was remodeling going on up on the 5th floor so there was lots of noise, but that's temporary. I would stay here again, if I really wanted to get away. There's not a lot to do in this area, unless you drive. The harbor is close by with some tiny gift shops and restaurants. Pool/spa area was nice, but going thru some refurbishing. If you want to come to San Diego, but want to also do some Orange County trips, this is an excellent location. Right in the middle of it all.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the center of the resort. Freeway on east side, train tracks on west.

We were a little worried about this resort after reading some of the negative reviews, but I am so glad we went ahead and stayed here. We stayed last summer (June 2011) and we loved it so much that we immediately booked it for this summer too (June 2012)! We had a one bedroom condo on the top floor with an amazing ocean view. Amazing pool - our boys loved it. Close to lots of activities. Very friendly staff. Love the parking garage, all vehicles park inside! Highly recommend this resort and we plan to spend many more vacations there!

This Timeshare was AWESOME and a very nice location! We had a 3RD. floor room and somewhat of an ocean view. It's with in walking distance to many restaurant and bar's Also If you like deep sea fishing....there is a few places to sign up and even to rent any kind of boat as well, all in the same area!

The resort had all the standard stuff like gym, pool, play ground, spa ect. Now the room was clean and very nice and beds for days! lol. The master room had a bed of course and the 2ND room had 2 twin beds and then we had a Murphy bed and another bed in the couch (queen) Now the resort went overboard on beds but they only had 2 t.v.'s? the spare bed room had no t.v? The room had a gas fireplace but here was the kicker for ME!!! All units have there OWN gas grill on there patio! Which was nice..I could just grill from my couch! Most resorts you have to walk a mile to grille...well not here! Also....The only thing you will get in the bathrooms is a bar of soap? So bring all your own goodies!

As in all Timeshares there is good and bad.....But over all I loved this place and the location was so nice too!!!!

So if you looking at this place? Go ahead and book it:) Because I can't wait to go back soon.

Room Tip: All rooms will train noise because the tracks are on the most western side of resort.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom condo, which was very spacious and well maintained. The bedrooms each had their own bathroom. Their was a gas BBQ on the balcony. The kitchen was very good size; there were utensils, glassware and dinnerware; there wasn't any cookware, with the exception of a small frying pan; just something to be mindful of.

The beach and pier are a short walking distance. There are some moderately priced restaurant located on the pier.

La Jolla and Carlsbad are short drives to do some sight-seeing and outlet shopping.

I, too, was worried after reading negative comments. I'm glad that we weren't put off. We stayed in a 2-bedroom on the third floor. Great view of the harbor, beach, ocean, pool, tennis courts. Staff was friendly and helpful. Everything was so clean and well-done that we weren't sure if it hadn't been redecorated very recently (it hadn't). I was even willing to walk barefoot on the carpeting. The walk to the beach was fine. It took about 5 minutes and it was pleasant to walk through the harbor. The train was fun to watch and didn't wake us once. Loved the secure parking and the access to luggage carts. The location was fine for the outings that we wanted--including San Diego twice. The only issue were the twin beds in the second bedroom. If I saw that that was the arrangement, I sure don't remember it. That is why I gave rooms and sleep quality threes instead of fives. It was a weird arrangement for two couples. The kitchen was remarkably well stocked. We would have loved to have had foil and/or plastic wrap supplied. The four of us were delighted with our stay and would do it again.
