“This is why you pay in advance.”

If you think your stay will be pleasurable,...Think again. All non timeshare rooms are "City view" which is directly over the railroad tracks. First clue should be the complimentary earplugs on the nightstands of your room. If you have any doubts about this just look at the lobby check-in counter their is a basket of earplugs on the counter too. Their IS a reason for this!
They will tell you the city is "working" with the rail system to keep the train whistles to a minimum. "but," they say "if you're a light sleeper we do have earplugs you can use."
Let's be realistic, the tracks are used by cargo as well as commuter trains the DO run all night long.
NO appropriations were made to help us switch to another room even when I was willing to pay almost twice the cost for a Two bedroom plus a kitchen and laundry room for just the two of us staying for a weekend getaway. (such a waste)
We will NEVER stay her again and quite possibly, not at another Wyndham EVER again.

The Wyndham Vacation Resort was Great! Be sure to get the one or more bedroom suite so you can get the ocean view. The staff was very helpful and nice. My wife and I stayed there on our 20th anniversary and at check-in, they ask us what was the occasion of our visit. On the second day, the resort sent us a basket full of snacks, chocolates, wine coolers, and a very nice anniversary card that was signed by many of the staff. I would definitely stay there again if I go to Oceanside again.

Can't beat the location: right across the street from the beach and pier, one block from downtown and it's shops. We had a one-bedroom, oceanview suite: nice little balcony, not directly facing the ocean, but still a very nice view. Hotel was relatively quiet. I booked through Hotels.com and even better prices than hotel's website. Also, if you're willing to go to the timeshare sales pitch (we declined) they'll throw in breakfast and a $150 AMEX gift card. No room service, but full kitchen in the room. Ample, free underground parking. Lobby has lots of DVD for rent at $3/day. Cool bar/restaurant on the ground floor, but not kid friendly. All in all, we will go back!

This is a great place to stay. Our room was facing the east side of the hotel (not facing the beach). The room was very clean and the jacuzzi made it even better. As you walk into the room there is a pullout couch to the left with a coffee table placed in front of it. As you continue on there is a king size bed, which is very comfortable and cozy. The sliding glass door leads to a balcony that has patio furniture. The room came with a micro fridge which helped keep the kids lunchables and Hawaiian punch cool. There is also a train that seems to come by every 25 minutes but the double-panes windows muffles the sound. They also provided complimentary ear plugs for those who can't stand the noise. Me being a light sleeper didn't notice the sound of the train. Although, the kids (3 & 1) loved to watch the train wiz by. We were also told by the hotel that you can ride the train which we have yet to experience. The beach is in walking distance and one could do a lot of people watching. The only drawback is that the homeless seem to love the area as well. Even though there isn't an abundance of homeless it is noticeable and this is the reason for my scoring of 4 out of 5. If your family is like mine, we have to find a Walmart in every town we go to. Walmart is about a 10-15 car drive (google or use Siri) but its nice to see familiar places. This is a nice getaway from Vegas and we enjoyed it and plan on coming back for Christmas.

This is a fabulous resort, not to be missed, in one of my favorite beach cities. We were in town for "Bike the coast, Taste the coast" and chose the hotel specifically for its proximity to the event.
My husband and I stayed in a two-bedroom corner unit with another couple. The master bedroom had a side view of the beach and our bedroom had a city/railroad view. The unit had city and beach views that were magnificient. LOL, we didn't realize until we left that the one remaining beach cottage by itself was from the movie Top Gun!
The unit was clean, updated, and well appointed. I was surprised that the second bedroom had a window, but think this was because it was a corner unit. The well disclosed train noise did not bother us at all. I did not here any trains at all between 9pm and 6 am.
Their is no food or beverage service at the hotel, which was nice because you could bring in your own drinks to the pool area, much cheaper! The heated pool and spa were on the second floor. We enjoyed beverages in the jacuzzi while watching an incredible sunset! Amazing!
We also enjoyed being able walk to downtown Oceanside. The movie theatre, bars and restaurants were all within easy walking distance of the hotel.
It is a great property and I hope to be able to return with my children during the summer.

I have stayed here three times in the past 14 months (once with two bedrooms, twice with one bedroom). We keep coming back, and will again! We love the location - across the street from the beach and pier. 5 minute walk (on a clean, attractive walkway that goes under the train tracks) from a nice "home town" street with movies, eateries, and various stores. Every Thursday, weather permitting, there is a wonderful evening street fair with dozens of booths: food, locally grown fruits & vegetables, crafts, custom items of apparel, something for everyone.
Many reviews have complained about the close proximity to the railroad. I have seen and heard the trains when out and about, but the noise has never caused us any issue (not even noticed) when in our room or sleeping.
The staff is very friendly and actually made us feel like they honestly cared that we were having a great time.
I will agree that the sales part is annoying. You have to talk to them since that is how you get the parking pass (free underground parking). (Understandable, they need to make a living.) However, if you simply refuse to participate, it is not an issue. One contact when checking in, then nothing - not a problem.

This hotel is not far from the beach. The entire beach area is good but not to compare to exotic one. I love the hotel but not the sound from railway station. The sky room is awesome , don't miss it. The swimming pool is small but it's ok , anyway you have your beach infront of the hotel. There's not a lot of chic place in the area. This is timesharing hotel , be careful for your decission.
