Nice hotel. Not as nice of a location but fine. Good vibe from beginning to end. Ms. Terie at front desk was very nice!

Stayed here as a base for exploring San fran as the Bart subway was right next to hotel the hotel itself is great the location not so good two seconds after stepping out your greeted by a lot of beggars /homeless kind off freaked my son out and he didn't want to go out . We went to the hotel bar /restaurant for food but we must have had special powers as we were invisible my son even went up to the waitress but she just ignored him so it was a dominos pizza delivery all in it was an ok hotel good lounge and pool area .

Thank you for sharing your experience. Yes, BART is located less than a block away and the BART ride in to San Francisco is just minutes away. My sincere apologies for falling short on the service in our lounge. This is not a typical occurrence, nor is your experience outside of the hotel. I can assure you that your next experience here will positively exceed your expectations. I hope we can look forward to welcoming you back soon.

The rooms provide the amenities common to other Marriott hotels. The bathrooms, however, were small but did provide the shampoo and conditioner along with body lotion. Other hotels seem to have eliminated some of these items. The extra charge per day, however, for internet use is charged if you want to use the internet in the privacy of your room. If you don't mind sitting in the lobby, you do have use of the internet, free of charge. The staff was helpful and courteous.

Room Tip: If you would like a view of the night lights, choose a room from floor 14 or higher.

We stayed here with friends on whirlwind tour of central CA. We booked the hotel on one of the discount hotel sites and got a great deal on the rooms. We parked offsite in a city garage, and it was quite expensive. Overall this was very good hotel for the price and close to BART as well.

We chose to stay at this hotel due to the good deal we got through AAA. The rooms were clean, spacious and very comfortable. The staff were very helpful and nice (with a couple of exceptions). The breakfast was good but waaaaaay to expensive! The restaurant had good and okay priced food and a very sweet staff!! However the barstaff...not so nice. We had to wait for at least 15 minutes before anyone even glanced our way and then we were gruffly asked if we "wanted a drink or what?". This happened on two separate occasions.
The gym is a bit small but reasonably well equipped. Wifi was unfortunately not included in the room. They were renovating the elevators during our stay and this unfortunately led to a 20 minute wait for the elevator at one point (yes, we could have taken the stairs even though we were on the 14th floor, but when we tried to a maid came rushing after us and told us the stairs were really only for emergency exits...so we continued our wait).
The hotel itself is conveniently located right next to the Bart so it`s perfect for a budget friendly trip to San Francisco. We also enjoyed taking the ferry from Jack London Square on two occasions. A wonderful way to do it if you`re not in a hurry to get into the city.
The area was very nice, safe and clean. We would most definitely stay here again.

It is sad that a great name like Marriott has to suffer with the reality of a property like this. I've stayed in other Marriotts (Seattle, Sacramento) and find this unacceptable. We won't be back... ever.
We were there for a State Bar Exam for my wife's legal studies. The room was discounted from $260 to $160 for that reason... and it isn't worth the discounted rate. Every time you turn around, some amenity costs extra... lots extra. A bottle of water is $3.75... same brand and size as the liquor store around the corner has for $1.50. The Internet access is paid access except in the lobby areas. The in-room coffee/tea has a $7.50 price tag. The restaurant prices are 30- 50% higher than surrounding places... at least.
The room... when you walk in, it looks appealing and clean... until you try to set down what you are carrying and find that every flat surface is covered with paid options or their advertising. The bed is overly soft, the mattress shows definite signs of age and wear. Pillow options are one good point... both soft and squishy along with high loft firm "side sleepers" are on the bed. The sheets feel like sand paper, as does the comforter. There is another "blanket?" type covering that resembles a vinyl table cloth... we pitched it in the corner. Slept poorly.
The bathroom appears to have been recently renovated... the shiny plastic/chrome looks very nice and the shower works well. No exhaust fan means the steam lingers. And... no hair dryer. Seriously? Motel 6, Super 8 have hair dryers- we don't even travel with hair dryers anymore- but not this Marriott. Wife was seriously bummed...
This is an old property and it shows. The air conditioning unit was obviously added and recessed into a corner built for the purpose. BUT... the thermostat is mounted 1' below the output vent. This means that the system constantly cycles on and off because the thermostat can't actually read the room temperature until the unit shuts off. On, off. On, off... all night.
The room was quite clean and all the plugs in the lamps worked. A few changes in policy and some minor fixes in the room and this would be quite good. As it is, the value is very poor and the issues with the room mean we won't be back. There are at least two smaller hotels within two blocks that offer equal or better rooms at half the price... The Washington Inn and the Clarion. Use the Marriott only as a last option or if there is a business reason for it.

Room Tip: Breakfast good... but very expensive. No "free breakfast", continental or otherwise in thi...

This Marriott is hotel quality but not your upper end Marriott. The best part is that it is secure and convenient to BART (same block). We got a special deal through AAA, but as with all Marriotts they ding you for every little thing. The Valet Parking was $33 a night. No free Wifi except on the first and second level, otherwise they charge $10 a night for access in your room. There is a restaurant, but no free continental breakfast. There are not a lot of eateries nearby, except Chinatown is there if you want Chinese. The room was decent and quiet, however, they have double rather than queen beds. They are working on the elevators, and one was shut down all the time which meant some pretty long waits. There was a huge convention of Latino herbal drink reps, and while they were all very nice, they were also very noisy, and it sometimes took 15 minutes to get an elevator. The maid service was outstanding. They did go beyond their call to tidy up. All in all it was a good stay and convenient especially to BART, but expect to pay for everything.
