This hotel is a fun, but noisy stay. "Pet friendly" is always a plus for those seeking nice accommodations while traveling with pets. The rooms are simple and stylish. Large television, free or faster pay wifi, ipod docking station, coffee maker, no fridge. Large marble tiled bathroom with tub. Phones everywhere, including the toilet. Loud, but effective air-conditioner/heater. The white noise from this helped mask the sounds of the nearby trains (2 blocks away). You will need ear-plugs. You must book a room on the water side. Shared balcony provided fresh air and beautiful views, though limited privacy. The attached restaurant is downright mediocre. It will do in a pinch, but there are many better options within a few blocks radius. Including several with outdoor seating that will allow your pets outside. Our second floor room was more than adequate, but in the future we will pick a third floor room. You could hear the footsteps of the tenants above. You can also clearly hear the slamming of the doors to other peoples rooms as well as the voices and footsteps in the hall. This has to do with the construction of the hotel, but also who else happens to be staying there. On the weekends the hotel slips a notice under everyone's door as to their "Party Policy". No more than 4 to a room, no smoking on the balconies, etc. Funny that when the hotel sanctions a conference event around the pool the rest of the hotel's tenants have to endure that racket. At least they don't go very late, but they start very early. Convenient $20 valet parking. Very friendly and accommodating staff. They supply earplugs and will fix anything that doesn't work in the room. The cable TV service the hotel uses needs an upgrade. Few channels, lousy selection. News, sports, regulars networks, one HBO channel, some "pay" channels available. There is a nice unheated pool in the center courtyard visible to boardwalk passerby's and everyone staying at the hotel. The waterfront location is picturesque and has a long boardwalk that goes along the marina and Jack London Square to a waterfront park. Perfect for the pet owner needing to walk the dogs. Bring your own poop bags, lots of public trash cans. Oakland/SF ferry next door. Watch out for vehicles driving in what seem to be pedestrian areas. 10 easy blocks to the Oakland Convention Center. We will stay here again in the future. Recommended.
