We stayed here for a weekend and had a fabulous stay. We stayed at the Waterfront before it became a Joie de Vivre Hotel, and a large part of choosing this hotel again is because it is now a Joie de Vivre Hotel. They are great boutique hotels! Another big reason to choose this hotel is the location. It really does have one of the best locations in the Bay Area. The ferry is right out the door that will take you over to SF in twenty minutes. The hotel is right on Jack London Square and the Marina. When you book a room, it is worth it to choose the water side. The views are delightful! I would only have two negative things to say. The first is that the interior decor is in need of a spruce up, it's not bad...it just could use some fresh carpet and new wall paper/paint (mostly in the hallways). The second would be that because of the location it was a bit loud on Saturday night. We wanted to open our window and enjoy the great bay breezes but the partying noises coming from the nearby restaurants and bars was way too loud. But...really the location trumps those two negatives. Oh, and the service was efficient and friendly.
