“Cheers, Oakland style: a place where everybody knows your name”

Always with an outstanding selection of beer on tap, frequently featuring live music, filled with the friendliest patrons and staff around, Cato´s is my home away from home when I visit Oakland... Sure it can be loud-- that´s part of its charm-- and I wouldn´t recommend it for a business meeting for that reason, but if you are looking for good food, good beer, good friends and good times, I cannot think of a more solid choice than Cato´s Alehouse.

Go for the beer, and have some food while you're there. If you plan on having a real conversation, go early or go elsewhere.
