Location: beautiful views of the water. Food: suburb real world Italian with dishes not routinely seen. If I lived here I would be a regular.

Il Pescatore has been at Jack London Square for over 20 years now. It's interior looks like the interior of an old wooden ship and overlooks the Oakland Estuary waterfront from almost every vantage point. A very consistent place for great Italian food, whether it be fresh fish or classic Italian dishes.

Great bar and ambiance. Waiters always dressed in suits and very professional.

Extensive menu and wine list. Expensive but not crazy prices.

My friend had never been there. We started with an appetizer - grilled eggplant with cheese and marina sauce. Terrific Italian treatment. Ordered an excellent red wine. Yum, Yum.

Then added classic Caesar salads.

Finally, I order the Halibut special and my friend had the Pasta of the House - penne pasta with an extraordinary brown sauce of veal and proscuitto combined with a tomato base and spices. Add fresh sourdough bread and we were in Heaven!

He LOVED the sauce on the Pasta of the House and my halibut was grilled perfectly.

What a meal. We both wolfed our food down in record time.

there are so many wonderful restaurants in Jack London Square area that you shouldn't waste your time and money (cause this place isn't cheap) on this funky restaurant. the food is mediocre at best and the atmosphere is like a nursing home.

The food, wine, service, local, and the atmosphere is incredible. My dad, husband and I went for the first time before a concert and left the restaurant more than satisfied. We will definitely return soon.
