I stayed three consecutive nights here for business travel in mid-November. Overall the stay was satisfactory, but there is little to rave about this hotel. Here is a list of pros and cons I experienced:
1-The hotel serves a descent breakfast and dinner (M-TH), which is a nice benefit to save some money and time, since there really are no other restaurant options close. The breakfast was average with a couple of hot entree options, while the dinners were okay.
2-The hotel offers a shuttle that delivers you to locations within in area, including the local BART stop. This was nice and allowed me to save money by not renting a car. The shuttle runs in the morning and evening and they were relatively quick to respond when I needed a ride.
3-The view of the harbor is nice if you have a room on the waterfront side of the hotel.
4-The service of the staff was good, with little issues experienced.
5-The hotel offers complimentary internet access and a nice lobby area.
6-Rooms types vary with sizes from studio to two-bedroom to accommodate families. I also found my room to be clean in all areas (except the carpet being somewhat worn).
1-I received a smoking room, which I wasn't excited about. This may have been my error when reserving, I'm not sure. The hotel was full, so when I asked for a room change I was promptly denied. I am surprised that the hotel isn't completely smoke free. I may limit my choices in the future to smoke-free hotels.
2-The location is adequate if you have a car; however, there is nothing in the immediate area. The hotel is very close to the freeway so I imagine access is very easy, but you have to drive to get to any restaurants. I did not rent a car and was relatively pleased with the shuttle/BART system.
3-The room decor is average, with some updating done and some additional updating likely needed. The carpets could use replaced or at least cleaned.
Overall, I felt for a Hilton property this was an average stay. I would stay here again if in the area; however, I would first search for smoke-free hotels to avoid getting a smoking room. The "satellite" building must contain several smoking rooms because the entire first floor hallway smells of smoke. This was my primary complaint and the only reason I would look at other hotels first. I was relatively pleased and felt the value was good for the price. Thanks.
