We feel very fortunate to have been able to have taken one of the few cruises offered on F.D.R.'s former yacht. It was great to experience this piece of history, and enjoy the views of the bay, in a classier, more intimate setting than a large ferry boat. The cruise was one of, if not the, highlight of our trip.
Before the cruise they show a short and informative video about the history of the boat. The cruise was fully narrated. Knowledgable docents circulated about the ship answering any questions you may have. We had a great, and comprehensive, tour of the entire bay area. We went past the Oakland shipyards, Mythbusters testing grounds, under the Bay Bridge, around Angel Island and Treasure Island, past Sausilito, the Golden Gate Bridge, and San Francisco.
Beverages and ship tour were included.

This is a museum on a yacht. You will experience a bit of history while taking an excursion around the bay. You will start watching a short film about the yacht and then you will board the yacht which has been restored to its condition in the 1940's. You can sit and enjoy the cruise around the bay or you can tour around the boat having docents explain the different parts of the ship and its history. It is an enjoyable afternoon on the ship.

We took a cruise on the Potomac and it was a most enjoyable morning. Although the weather was not at its kindest when we started the Captain headed across the Bay towards Richmond where the sun was shining and all the passengers began to warm up.

The cruise gives you the chance to experience first hand a unique piece of American history and see how the US President lived on board. The cruise was accompanied by a lively and informative commentary about the history of the boat and the Bay itself. It is also a chance to see the Bay from vantage points other than those provided by the regular ferries. Definitely worth a visit.
