“Visited with the family and we had a great time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

This is a very modern, newer space located in the Oakland hills.

It's very easy to get to, and once you are up in the redwoods, you get a terrific view of the bay area and a great sense of nature.

This is great place for experiencing space and science!

The folks working at the center were all very helpful and friendly.

I'm looking forward to going back for one of their night visits to do some real star gazing.

“Lots of Fun, Lots of Exhibits Geared Towards Kids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

We went up one evening for night sky viewing and were really impressed. The telescopes are something like 130 years old, and it's a real testament to their craftsmanship that the viewing was awesome. (Of course I don't have a lot to compare it with, but still) Very mixed crowd - couples, singles, people with kids, and the sweet couple in front of us who seemed to be on a first date. The line for the viewing looked long but went quickly. Afterwards we went inside and took a look at some of the exhibits - at least what was accessible in the evening. Lots of engaging stuff for kids. Definitely recommend.

“Good for Older kids”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

We had nothing to do so we thought we would check it out. It was a relaxing way to spend a couple of hours. My 10 year old son did learn some things but in order to do so, I needed to get him to read the exhibits. When he did, he enjoyed it and definitely talked about what he learned. But I don't know that it would be good for younger kids although I did see some of them there. There are some interactive exhibits but not a ton of them. But we did enjoy the time we spent there.

“See the stars!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

From time to time, they let you in to see the stars at night for free. It's so awe-inspiring to see outer space in their impressive telescopes!
