I squared (or I2) is run by Sadri Madjlessi & Tanya Anderson, who bought the next-door Hudson Bay Caffe some years back and turned it around, then began work on this lovely restaurant. Typical Iranian dishes include delicious kabobs and lamb shanks, and Italian cuisine brings shrimp scampi, eggplant parmigiana, and delicious, melt-in-your mouth roasted fish. My favorite is the fensenjen, a walnut-pomegranate sauce over chicken and rice. Service is warm and friendly and the settling is simple with smooth wood tables. Come to Oakland for one of the most unusual cuisine combinations you'll ever experience.
