Yoshi's is an Oakland institution, down on Jack London Square. Dinner is top notch, and there are ample choices for non-sushi eaters. Service has been wonderful at every visit.
One thing about the restaurant that is either a charming plus or a downer, depending on your attitude: the AMTRAK trains run right down the middle of the street outside Yoshi's. If you like trains, it's fun. If you are annoyed by them, maybe go elsewhere!
After dinner, there are evening shows in Yoshi's comfortable venue. Usually it's jazz, occasionally something else. The quality is always high, so it's worth taking a chance on something new.
This is a favorite place for us to go for a special evening out: sushi, some good wine or saki, a nice show, with easy parking nearby and friendly service. It's an easy place to love.
