“Not quite what it used to be, in transition”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

Two-Three years ago, this was a great place for a weekend stroll, dining, outdoor market. Now many of the quaint shops has closed. The Barnes and Noble Bookstore is no longer there. There are some nice dining places but very little shops. Its right on the intercoastal and its a nice outdoor area to walk, take your dog, have a bite to eat. The city needs to give it a boost. Its just not what it used to be

“Nice places to eat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

Great if you need a nice place to eat --- there's plenty of choices (although most of them are a bit pricey, the food is good). They charge for parking, but its worth paying, as parking on the nearby streets is pretty dodgy in Oakland. Its nice to walk around as well, but don't walk around alone here.

“Everything includes a killer view and Ferry to SF.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

As far as I'm concerned this is the hub of Oakland. Great restaurants (although a little pricey), lots of places to walk around/ride your bike, and a ferry to the city. My favorite restaurant is Kincaid's, but expect to pay a hefty price. Parking is a pain, but it can be partially validated by a restaurant.

“Jack London Square Farmers Market”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

One of the most relaxing things I've done in the Bay Area is to take the Ferry from San Francisco's Ferry Building to Oakland's Jack London Square. The ride takes about 20 minutes or so and only costs $6.25 for a one way trip. The best day to go is Sunday because of the farmer's market which happens every Sunday, rain or shine, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. There you can purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, breads and pastries or enjoy some of the specialty foods sold there. It's a really great way to spend a Sunday in the East Bay.
