We stayed in Oakhurst last summer for a week and absolutely loved it.
We were two families vacationing together with kids from 5-11 years and the kids ranked this trip above Disneyland! We used Oakhurst as home-base of sorts and took day trips to Yosemite, Columbia, and Mercer Caves. We went horseback riding and rode the SugerPine Railroad Midnight run - it actually runs from 6-9pm and includes a dinner and campfire sing-along (I highly recommend it.) We arrived with little to no plan and just made it up as we went. The people there are great and very willing to guide you to the best places. We ate dinner one night at Hondo's steak house. The food was great as was the service and the live music couldn't be beat.
