“Okay..but could of been better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

Spent two nights at this property. We had a King room with a view of the pool outside our sliding glass door. There were chairs and a table outside our room, which we enjoyed with a glass of wine after a long day in the park. The room was nice (could use a little updating) but was adequate for our stay. The hotel restaurant was very nice and they offer their quests a 25% discount. We enjoyed a nice breakfast our second day. This hotel is a BW Plus property, however...they need to clean the grounds up better. There were cobwebs on the stairs and we saw cigarette butts on the ground as we walked around the property. I noticed some of the windows were dirty and full of cobwebs too.
The hotel property is beautiful, management just needs to pay a little more attention to detail, otherwise very nice accommodations overall.

Check in was fast our room was within the same block as the reception which was fine, we walked around the grounds on the evening and there are many rooms and some big hills and stairs to climb to some of them. our room was clean and i am sure was very modern in the 70's when it was fitted out!
the selling point for this hotel is the location to the park, was not impressed looking at te menu so it was old faith full "Dennys" just a short walk away for us that evening. Bfast was included on the rate we had which was limited but Okay...
if your not visiting Yosemite park, keep driving.

This hotel is a hidden jewel! Very nice staff and the property exceeded my expectation! It is in a nice area conveniently located to shopping and restaurants and fairly close to Yosemite National Park! I would highly recommend this hotel

When you first arrive at this motel, you will think, wow, what a setting and the registration lobby is beautiful but it went downhill (actually literally up a long hill) after that. The motel is set into the side of a hlll and the views from the rooms balconies are very nice. It is a steep climb up to the rooms from the registration desk and from restaurant so if you aren't up to that you will have to drive back and forth. Our room was pretty much at the top of the hill and my mom is handicapped so she couldn't really explore. The beds were comfortable, there was a beautiful hand-painted mural on the wall, and the wi-fi worked fine but those were about the only plusses. The carpeting was filthy. We got in at supper time so unloaded our luggage quickly and went to supper. When we came back we were pretty tired from our travels and went straight to bed. Unfortunately, we forgot to check to see if the towels and other amenities were stocked before we went to sleep. We got up the next morning and we only had 1 bath towel for 3 people. Also, there was no shampoo and conditioner. I called down to the desk at 7 a.m. and the operator said that there was no one to bring up towels or anything else and we would have to drive down to the office to pick some up...so one of us had to get dressed and go down there...apparently housekeeping doesn't come in until late. We also had no regular coffee stocked in the room and had to ask for that as well. Our guess is that the room had not been serviced in quite a while. The walls were pretty thin, we could hear our neighbors' TV, talking, and moving around. The shower head in our room was for someone over 6 feet tall and could not be adjusted It sprayed only to the back of the bath tub so you had to stand back there to shower. The spray was so hard that water was forced out the back of the shower curtain and the bathroom floor was soaked. The balconies are not private just open covered porches connecting all the rooms. When we checked out we received no 'Thank You' or 'Hope you enjoyed your stay'...we were not mean to anyone inspite of the lack of service (that is just not our way) so I was surprised. The man that checked us in was polite but the woman who checked us out couldn't have cared less.

Room Tip: Ask for something lower down the hill...those rooms are probably maintained better.

Getting in late on a motorcycle riding from Susanville (~350 miles), we were exhausted. The staff was immediately helpful and all our needs addressed. The room was very nice and comfortable and the bike was right out side the room allowing easy unloading. Very happy and would go there again in a heartbeat.

Do not stay in the new section. It's noisy, poorly decorated and has no personality. If you look at their website, yet are booked into the new section, the pictures do not even come close to describing what your room will look like. Also, the new section is right on Highway 41 and is noisy. To be fair, the hotel is close to Yosemite's south gate, was spotless and very large. The room itself was the disappointment.

Great hotel. The beds were very comfortable and the pillows were the best of all the places we stayed on our trip out west. We had breakfast in the restaurant next door. We ordered off the menu because the buffet did not have anything that appealed to us. The breakfast food was great and the service was outstanding. We went to Yosemite from the hotel and appreciated that is was so close by. We would definately return and recommend this hotel to our friends.
