We had a wonderful weekend stay at this hotel! We chose Oakhurst as an inexpensive home base to visit for a day in Yosemite Valley and to attend a wedding in Wawona the next day. The Best Western Plus Gateway was just right for our budget and included everything we needed. I am pretty much always happy with Best Westerns and I think this was one of the best ones I have stayed at especially due to the beauty of the grounds and for the kids the cute carved bears everywhere and even a little playground tucked away in a shaded garden!. The last thing you want to see after a trip on the road is a bland looking building and nothing but parking lot especially when the beauty of nature is what you're looking forward to when coming to the most beautiful National park! Check in was hassle-free. The room was large, clean , fresh-smelling and pretty updated. After a long hot day in Yosemite Valley it was so nice and restful to have a good AC, a very comfortable bed and,no sound coming from any of our neighbors. Another plus: the tv was flatscreen and the wifi free. My 8 yr old daughter and I took a dip in the indoor pool (they also have an outdoor one) and it was really well kept. My daughter thought the waterfall was cool and I liked that they provided extra towels. It was convenient to have a restaurant onsite and the service was good, even though it was pretty crowded for both breakfast and a late night dinner. The food was ok (not exactly a culinary capitol) but quite better than I expected and the portions were substantial. They even had a few vegetarian options and my hubby was happy with their selection of beer. We will definitely stay here again when visiting Yosemite. The only reason to chose anywhere else would be if you really didn't feel like driving to and from the park every day but then you pay much more in the valley.
