Staying in the Yosemite National Park itself seems to be very expensive if you don't want to go camping. Oakhurst is a good 30 mins drive to the southern entrance of the Park but we didn't really come across anywhere closer, so this town seems to be the best option.
Front desk staff not exactly the friendliest but we arrived about an hour early and were allowed to check in to our room. The hotel is comprised of a number of separate lodge style buildings in pleasant grassy and wooded area. We were lucky enough to get the building furthest from the road so it was lovely and quiet.(Although Oakhurst itself is pretty quiet so I can't imagine noise is ever much of an issue). We didn't hear our neighbours which was a welcome break from all the motels we'd been staying in.
The room was huge. I've read some reviews about the décor being dated. It is a little but the style suits the place and the setting and all the fixtures and fittings were of good quality. A little old fashioned but not old. Really comfy beds and plenty of pillows etc. There's a little kitchenette area, good sized bathroom with a great sink area where you can lay out all your toiletries. The room also had balcony you could sit out on.The cleaners gave our room a quick check over as we moved in - so it was lovely and clean. Parking is almost directly outside the rooms so handing for getting the luggage in. Free wifi worked well.
Breakfast wasn't included but as guests we got a 25% discount. The food was fine for the price. We didn't make use of the free spa facilities - swimming pool and hot tub, but they looked fine. Happy there's a laundry room which we did use.
All in all a great place to base yourself for exploring the amazing Yosemite National Park. Good value, comfortable, peaceful and roomy.
