This was an anniversary celebratory 3-day weekend hosted by our children - 6 of us in all. The rooms are all different but equally well appointed with comfortable beds and fine linens, and the adjoining baths are large and provide separate shower and tub. The overall impression is of a luxurious Bavarian, small, intimate hotel. The service is impeccable and attentive without being overbearing. What impressed us was the attention to detail wherever you looked... bags of bottled water and snacks as you leave for a hike in Yosemite, CDs and player in the room, afternoon iced tea and sandwiches upon arrival, luxurious robes for the bath, bowls of fresh fruit and plates of delectable confections always accessible and a lovely main sitting room downstairs for watching an afternoon ball game while sipping champagne. Unbelievable.
For those who want to be pampered there is a spa on site. We took a refreshing dip in the pool after hiking and in the morning walked down to the bocce ball court and life-sized outdoor chess board. Everywhere one looks the flowers, creative sculptures and lush views surround you in beauty.
We ate our dinners in Erna's Elderberry Restaurant located right next to the hotel. The food was perfection, and, as with the hotel, the atmosphere was Old World elegance. Again, the service was first class. With a menu printed specially for our group at each dinner, we felt cared for beyond measure.
Tip: The rooms away from the highway are quietest.
We will recommend this extraordinary place without hesitation to our friends, and we will certainly be back!
