“Great experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

Sam was a very helpful and gracious host.

Food was good and delicious.

I'd have given it a 5* rating had the chef incorporated more wow factor, which is fairly common at other Michelin starred restaurants.

“Out of this country, out of this world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

Felt like visiting a chateau. The place is beautiful, in an old-world refined way. The servers were impeccable in their timing, discreetness, desire to please. The chef made an appearance to talk about the food and answer questions. The food itself was excellent, again in that highly refine sort of way--very small portions of very rich food beautifully prepared and presented. My favorites was a corn soup that was poured at the table over a crisped shaving of cheese, and dollops of pesto and tomato "mousse". Also delicious was a sliver of rare tuna over a grilled slab of yellow watermelon with some sort of a tasty drizzle over it. Get the picture, a really unique and high end meal. We moved to the patio for a great mix of desserts and coffee under the stars. It was a great anniversary dinner.

“Five-Star, Period.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012

People travel from around the globe to eat here. There is no question why. The best one-word description would be "class." The owner and chef go out of their ways to ensure a unique, fresh, thoughtful menu and dining experience. The service has always been first-class. Each time I go - which is not often as it is a "special occasion only" destination for me - I am met with a dish I initially think "hmm, I'm not so sure about this one" but conclude "wow, that was incredible" after trying it myself Now, be aware: this is not your average Cafe. I would suggest you keep an open mind, make reservations, dress nicely (no need to overdress) and prepare to ask questions, learn, explore, linger and enjoy a top-ten all-world dining experience. No doubt this is at least a once-in-a-lifetime try, and I can assure you if it's a special surprise for someone special it is as romantic an experience as a dining experience can be.

“Elegant and Charming with great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

There is no better place to eat in and around Yosemite. This is the oasis from fast food and overpriced horrible food served in this area. Erna has a prix fix menu that is carefully coordinated. Each time we eat here we are amazed. If you do not like something on the menu no problem. Erna is all about pleasing you the customer. Many others need to learn this. The wine list is really good too.

“A Must Visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

As frequent guests at Erna's Elderberry House, we have always been treated to a dining "experience" that ranks with the star restaurants we have enjoyed in France. From award winning Chef Gunnar Thompson to the dining room staff, your enjoyment is number one on their list of priorities. Entrees meet the most demanding palettes and the desserts are a constant sumptuous surprise. Each dish leaves us with a sense of awe for the taste, artistic presentation, and down right goodness. One is never rushed and is encouraged to relish each bite. Wine Director Samuel Aguilar oversees a cellar stocked with a premium world wide selection, ready to assist you in choosing a wine to compliment your meal. The atmosphere of the Estate by the Elderberries reflects the passion Erna Kubin-Clanin has in continuing to fulfill her dream of having a European style restaurant adjacent to Yosemite National Park. Each time we depart, we are filled with gratitude for having such a wonderful experience.
