We stayed for 2 nights Oct 23/24, 2012 in order to visit Yosemite/Sierra Mtns.
- Location: The Haus is about 15min away from the southern entrance and was very actually very easy to find (even in the dark).
- Host: Eddie Rainwater is about the nicest person you will ever run into. He gave us great tips to help plan traveling and knows all the attractions that are off the beaten path (eg: swimming holes etc etc)
- Amenities: Although listed as a B&B, this is technically not one as Evergreen Haus does not serve breakfast BUT the plus side is that you can use the fully equipped kitchen to cook whatever you like for breakfast/lunch/dinner which is hugely convenient; by regulation, regular B&B's aren't allowed to give guests access to anything more than coffee maker and fridge. The cupboards are filled with various dry goods (cereals, pancake mixes, coffee, peanut butter, popcorn etc) and fridge has condiments/jams and frozen waffles. Kitchen access aside, there are 2 rooms in the inn, both with private baths and new furniture including enourmous, comfortable beds and big closets. The overall build/decor of the inn is what I imagine Paul Bunyon would also rate as 5/5 stars - exposed wood beams, wood floors, high ceilings, big leather couches, fire place, wood deck, grill on the deck, deer and bear on the 2 acres of wooded grounds etc.
- Cost: definitely worth the listed price, way better than any hotel deal

Bonus: there is Verizon cell phone reception in Oakhurst, we drove through Mariposa and did not have reception the entire time...

If we could give this place 6 stars, we would.

For our trip to Yosemite, we wanted to stay in Oakhurst so we could get the amazing tunnel view as our first experience. After extensive research we were drawn to the Evergreen Haus by the online pictures, descriptions and reviews. In every respect, Evergreen turned out to outperform our already high expectations.

The lodge itself is beautiful. Rustic, yet with every modern convenience we could want (including access to washer/dryer, and a personal refrigerator and coffeemaker in our room), this place is perfect for those who want to escape city life without completely "roughing it." You shouldn't expect a prepared breakfast like a typical B&B would provide, but the alternative worked much better for us... we loved being able to prepare our own breakfast and pack sandwiches for the day. This saved lots of money AND we didn't have to waste time getting food at Yosemite (you're there for the sights, right?!) We felt as comfortable as we would in our own home. Another thing we loved - you always felt Yosemite's presence. Between the ubiquitous Yosemite artwork, maps and guidebooks, not to mention the running DVD documentaries in the living room, you could remain immersed in the Yosemite experience without being in the park. Evergreen Haus was a vacation unto itself.

A rave review of the lodge would be incomplete without extolling the owner, Eddie. He gave us a complete tour of the lodge, even though we arrived at 1:30 AM!!! Throughout our stay he was warm, welcome and generous with his time. He was an excellent resource for planning our time exploring Yosemite. Eddie helped ensure that we maximized our entire Yosemite experience, and for this we'll always be grateful.

We found this place on tripadvisor and were so pleased. It has only been open since July so Eddie is still finding his feet and spends a lot of time in the cabin making sure guests have what they need which I suspect he will do less and less since the cabin is so well equipped! This isn't a strict b&b as they cannot provide breakfast although they leave lots of things in the kitchen guests can help themselves to. The rooms are very cosy and comfortable whilst there is a large open plan kitchen/sitting-room with big TV, sofas and everything you need in the kitchen. The place was so nice we cooked dinner whilst there having shopped at the large supermarket in town.

Great value for money, a highlight of our stay. Eddie will bend over backwards to help his guests although the place is so nice he does not need to worry!

Only word of warning, take the road up to the cabin slowly - it's very pot-holey.

Visited Yosemite and booked this place,which was difficult to find on the net,but so glad I persevered.!A very unique experience.Better than a hotel and B&B,as the whole Lodge was for you to use.Only having two bedrooms,you could really chill here and what a place to chill!The Lodge wanted for nothing! Eddie and his family had thought of everything to make for a luxurious stay.The rooms were beautiful and better than many hotels,with again so much thought gone into what would make for a great stay.We had our own fridge and coffee machine in the room,but also had the kitchen to prepare anything in,which was so well equipped.Complete with everything you can think of including waffle maker and popcorn machine (along with all the ingredients required).A laundry area was also available to guests too.Wi-Fi and parking all for free.
Eddie was a very attentive host and so informative of the area he helped perfect our one day in the park.
And as for the views,WOW!What a fantastic view of the area.The Lodge has decking all the way round and we just wanted to chill there everyday and take it all in! Peace and tranquility ,but still close to Oakhurst and Yosemite.
A perfect location and stay .I cannot recommend it enough. Only opened in July so they don't have a lot of ratings yet,but when the word ges out,I think this will be a very popular destination.Very good value compared to hotels for the standard of accommodation and to let you know from our experience,Eddie cannot offer B&B,but provides an array of things for breakfast to help yourself to,so don't shop,until you check out what's available.Thanks again to Eddie and family for a wonderful stay and hope you continued success.
