“Central and Pet Friendly!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2010

My wife, mother, daughter and 80 lb Golden Retriever had a great 7 day stay at the Inn Marin the week of 4th of July. We made reservations for 2 rooms a week in advance for the "Garden Rooms," and they were just as advertised in the pictures -- very nice, upgraded, spacious and clean. The hotel is super pet friendly, and has a central grassy area for the pets and owners to play and run around (VERY convenient). Free Continental breakfast was great, but the big surprise was the formal dining area, Rickey's Restaurant and Bar, with it's big fireplace, great ambiance, and really great food. The weekly Fri/Sat live Jazz music at the pool was a nice touch. The hotel was perfectly central to visit both San Francisco (30 mins) and the Wine Country (40 mins), which was our goal. The only downside of this hotel is it's right next to the 101 fwy, so staying in the Garden Rooms, or the rooms behind them, makes the fwy noise tolerable (we kept the fan running at night which worked great at drowning out the noise). This family owned and operated hotel was an all around great value. We will definitely consider staying again at the Inn Marin.

We stayed one week at this place and it was perfect. Price was right. Rooms were impeccably clean. Four buildings around a courtyard that was really a private park with benches, shade trees, lawn, and the biggest hydrangeas I ever saw. Nice continental breakfast that starts at 6 a.m. (a plus for us active types). Extra large pool. All furnishings were high quality. All staff were pleasant. 40 minutes to Santa Rosa and 20 minutes to Sausalito. Right off of 101 (California's main drag) Short walk to three restaurants and two block walk to grocery store. Fridge in room. One of the few motels I ever really felt comfortable at- more than just a place to hang your hat.

My wife and I stayed at the Inn Main two nights in June 2010. The two nights were part of a auction for Guide Dogs for the Blind that the hotel supports. So i can't speak to the cost of the rooms. However, we have a very enjoyable time and really enjoyed our stay. Our room was located in the back section not near the freeway. The wood floors and update bathroom were very nice. A nice HD flat screen TV and free Internet were all great amenities. We had dinner at Ricky's restaurant and enjoyed the breakfast each morning. We went wine tasting in various Sonoma winery's and found the hotel to be centrally located for our visits there as well as to family living in Mill Valley. The down side is the hotels close proximity to US101 highway but we never found the noise to be an issue in our room.

What happens when children inherit a place? I was told there were no cameras in back so they ignored my complaint. Lowly and scary despite new decor. Next to freeway. If you have emergency expect to be bullied and ignored. But at least your offered overpriced natural aroma soap. Even if housekeeping accidentally leaves cleaners all over that bleach spots on clothes where they don't dry.

A spoiled little nightmare.

I absolutely love staying at this property. The staff are wonderful and accommodating with a personal touch, the grounds are gorgeous, the rooms are comfortable and well decorated and their rates are very reasonable. It's the perfect accommodation for work or play (ideal for wine country visits) and the restaurant on the grounds is fabulous, too (love the entertainment they have various nights of the week on the patio). I travel frequently and stay at many hotels throughout the year. This is by far my favorite for all it has to offer and I recommend it highly. Truly a gem!

I love this place when visiting the Marin area because it is one of the very nicer hotels that pet friendly (the charge a reasonable fee) and they have smoking rooms (also hard to find in uber-socialist Marin).

The venue is great. It is a freeway fronting hotel, but courtyard and pool are shielded from the freeway noise. There are plenty of places to lounge around outside of the rooms. The courtyard is dotted with hammocks and swings.

The TV's are modern LCD, and you can hook your own DVD player or camera into the TV. They have both wired and wireless network access.

The staff is friendly and helpful. Room service is reasonably placed, and the bar will let you take your drink back to the room.

The breakfast is pretty standard semi-hot. Most of the food is high carb cold foods (breads, bagels, pastries, ceral) the hot food are oatmeal and waffles. Hard boiled eggs are the only low carb option that I saw. You can take food from breakfast back to the room.

Pool is unheated, but the hot tub is heated and properly hot (not luke warm like in many places).

Two reason for 4 stars is that the "pet friendly" room I had was that the refrigerator didn't fit flush against the wall. The back of the frig had exposed wiring that a small pet (cat, puppy, ferret) could get to. We where able to use our luggage to block our ferrets from getting back there. We requested a room with a king or queen bed, but we where given a room with two twin beds. Because we had pets, they could not move us to different room, and separate beds didn't make this as romantic a stay as it could have been.

The prices at this time are reasonable - We paid $99.00 a night over New years. So I'd say the prices are moderate since a Motel 6 in this area costs $60.00 a night.

We stayed at The Inn Marin for one night. The front desk guy could not have been more helpful and pleasant. The room was clean and comfortable with all the amenities you could need. Great parking, right outside our room and all rooms were little single storey chalets so no noise from other guests above! We were at the back of the hotel which was away from the road and therefore very quiet.

The on-site restaurant is excellent too with very polite and helpful staff.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be happy to recommend it as a good stopover place to stay, however, we imagine the front rooms/chalets might be a little noisy as they are near the road, but the back rooms were quite perfect.

If I could make one suggestions… it would be nice to have cookies (biscuits to us English) with our morning tea/coffee. Otherwise, a perfect place.
