Why: they will charge about the same, have better service, and give you better food. The long answer: I went here because my father likes this place. It's a hole-in-the-wall, ok, fine. The young people who took my order were kind and friendly. The food was prepared quickly enough, but without trays, much vegetables, and as another reviewer mentioned, was a shriveled patty, slathered in thousand island. I went back up to ask for a tomato, and the grumbly older woman gave this look like I had asked her to give me money. The opposite happened, in fact--they charged me $0.50 extra for it. That is why I am writing this--hope that pocket change was worth this unflattering review! I try to keep my money local whenever possible, but Lou's is just mediocre and I hope that my writing this sends more business elsewhere. I get that these companies can't compete in price because they don't have the same economy of scale, but that's where your service and quality are supposed to shine--not be worse! At least the shake was palatable.
