My Wife and I chose this Hotel because of other reviews of Value and Location. Both were excellent. You could walk to several Restaurants,eg: The Rusty Pelican, or drive to the Balboa Peninsula where there were many choices. The beach was just minutes away. The rooms are very well appointed and comfortable. The new Hot Breakfast was a delight. The staff were Courteous and Helpful. We will definitely return to this Holiday Inn Express
Tip: Sunsets at Balboa Pier and Lookout Point in Corona del Mar are to die for. The 1.75 mile walk around Balboa Island is another great find.

My husband and I are season travelers and have stayed in a variety of differently priced Hotels.
This is the first time I have taken the time to write a review.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express New Port Beach on the 14th October 2008
Because of the price we paid ( on the internet ) we really were not expecting very much. To our delight we were so wrong.

A very warm welcome awaited us followed by a very quick an easy registration. And getting the quiet room we requested was great.
The ample parking spaces made it easy to park conveniently close to our room. No fighting for a parking space here or paying for the privalage of getting one.
The room had obviously recently been remodelled and looked inviting, fresh and very clean. Lovely white ( always appealing ) linen and very comfortable bed. Even the pillow cases were embroidered stating which pillow was soft or firm. The windows had the option of using the block out light linings ,for that sleep in or luxuriuos afternoon nap.
The room was supplied with little extras as well as a large fridge and microwave.
A welcome note offering any assistance needed was sitting on the bed.
The wireless internet in the room was one of the easiest I have experienced to connect onto. At no extra charge.
All the rooms have doors that close quietly which meant we were not woken by people coming and going.
Also included in the room price was a very extensive very yummy breakfast. Do try the hot cinaman buns.
This hotel has a lot of the things provided by some four star hotels we have stayed in.
We have just booked the next three days here, not only because of all the above but also because of the location and accessability to everything. Disneyland is only 20 minutes away, Newport beach and Balboa Island minutes away. Huntington and Laguna only 10 minutes away. Etc. So we have lots of option of how to fill our last few days in California.

This was a really excellent hotel. We stayed for 2 nights in October 2008. The room was large and spotlessly clean. We had a TV (with HBO), a fridge, microwave, iron and ironing board. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly - there were even free cookies each night on the reception desk. There was a computer with internet access offerred for free or free wireless for those with laptops.

The breakfast offered a good selection each morning including cereal, yogurts, cinamon rolls, donuts, bagels, toast, hash browns, eggs, sausage/bacon, tea/coffee and fruit juice.

The pool is small and overlooked by the carpark, but it suited us fine for a quick dip.

The location of the hotel is good. We walked to Newport Pier in under 30mins. There are also a few restaurants right by the hotel (we really liked Garlic Joe's which is right next door).

All in all a really good stay which we would happily repeat.

Clean room, pleasant staff, decent breakfast and good location.
