“Top of the line lunch in every way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

Again the Pelican Hill Resort has outdone itself with the slightly more casual sister restaurant to the Pelican Grill. The only thing that keeps the Coliseum from being a more formal spot is the gorgeous setting aside the circular pool below. Dining while resort guests are tanning on the lounges keeps it casual. But the food, presentation and service aren't slacking in any way. Outstanding salads, fish tacos, sandwiches.. and you must try the parmesan parsley french fries. Wicked. Keep in mind the portions are huge here.. sharing plates, particularly if you order some of those fries, will do the trick if you share tastes. But your waiter is happy to box up any leftovers, which we then ate for dinner. For dessert, try the half-baked, warm chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream sandwich.. with a table full of people. It's rich! While not inexpensive, it's actually quite reasonable, considering the quality and the overall experience. I love to have lunch at the Coliseum.. then take a dip in the pool to exercise off the calories after my food has digested.

“The Coliseum for a relaxing afternoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

The view from The Coliseum, both inside and outside on the deck above the gorgeous, glass-tiled pool is lovely. The palm trees framing the views of the ocean and sunset, as the golfers lay through are picturesque and calming. The food is imaginative and delicious. The drink menu has some delightful choices - Citron lemonade on a warm summer day? Delicious!
The staff is friendly and accommodating. Our Bartender 'Brad' kept the conversation going and recommended cocktails and appetizers for each member of our party. He made us feel as though he was entertaining our family at his home. Valet parking was prompt. It was a lovely afternoon to settle in till the sun set over the Pacific.

“Best Food, Service and Ambiance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

A great restaurant in an ideal location. If you are looking for a romantic setting for dinner, this is the place. Or if you are looking for a setting for a family meal, this is the place. What a fantastic experience we had at Coliseum. Chef Marc has hit the mark every visit. The food is extraordinary and in my view the best food one can find in Newport Beach. The fare is fresh and the vegetables are organic. We can't wait to visit again. OUTSTANDING!

“Lunch at it's Finest!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

Two friends and I went to check out all the hype of the Pelican Hill resort's Coliseum Pool & Grill and I have to admit - it was worth every second of the drive from LA!

We sat outside by the breathtaking view of the pool and mountains while dining on some delicious fresh cuisine! It was absolutely delicious. If you make it there, you HAVE to try the beet salad with salmon. DELICIOUS!!! Will definitely be going back in the very near future.

“YUM”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

EXCELLENT food. Great views. Chef Marc rocks. Delicious. Make sure to try the beet salad. I do not even care for beets but-- WOW. The scallops were amazing! Treat yourself and go for the desserts too.
