My wife and I were staying at the Marriott Newport Coast so this was the closest restaurant. We had eaten here before and really enjoyed it so this was high on our list of places to eat for the week. The Pelican Grill is a beautiful restaurant but it is part of the golf club and adjoins a sports bar which can be noisy. On the night of our visit, there was an excellent acoustic guitar player named Kieth Chagal playing at the restaurant entrance providing not only fine music, but a barrier to any noise from the bar. Excellent! My wife had a scallop dish that she felt was one of the best meals she ever had. I had an excellent short rib. Sarah, our server, was outstanding! Great understanding of the menu and wine list. The busser, Ben, was great. Efficient and friendly all evening. One of the managers (unfortunately I forget his name) came by to make sure everything was good. This is an excellent restaurant which fully justifies its somewhat high prices. The service and attitude of everyone we encountered from the valet to the receptionist, to the server, bus person, was great.
