“Even better than it looks on the web”

This Hilton gives the typical quality of the DOubleTree Hilton chain, but performs better than it appears on its website. For instance, its pool area is really nice and it is a reasonably large pool as compared to most Hilton pools in the larger Bay Area. It also has wings with few floors only, making it much more personal than the pictures of the large, impersonal building suggest on the website. Breakfast is good, too.

My only two concerns were related to issues that cannot be remedied: first, the hotel is right on the highway, so it is in a not-so-clean and noisy environment, whatever you do, so you do not want to plan your longer family vacations here. Nevertheless, when you have a room facing the inner courtyards (such as the pool or another one), this is not so disturbing, you do not notice this, and when the windows are shut you do not hear any noise.

Second, the hotel is going under renovation and the room we got was on a newly done floor that resulted in a very strong smell of chemicals from new finishings and glue, etc. I wish we were informed about this in advance, or that we had the option to choose a less smelly place. I am an environmental scientist and I do not trust these smells. I recommend the hotel to advice any guests who are given such rooms in areas newly refurbished that they are aware of what they get, in advance. I was just too tired to fight this at night when I arrived.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the inner courtyards. The pool area is nice; it is good to have a room facing...

Terrible staff. Above average amenities. Don't know what else to write in the 200 characters review. I can't repeat myself. Other than all this of what I have said, its a sub-par hotel overall. I know I may sound stupid but facts are facts.

This hotel is used for company corporate business but we think it is by default. We stayed here over a course of a week…leaving and returning for different parts of our trip. First impression is fine. Rooms are interesting. First room fine. Bed uncomfortable. No perks for frequent stay people like us other than did we want a cookie? seriously? second part of week checked into a room with shower curtain not fully snapped in, something sprayed and sticky all over bathroom door with a piece of hair stuck in it (cleaned the door myself gave the washcloth to staff in hallway didn't have time to deal with monkeying around), toilet barely flushed, corner of bathroom vanity missing (broken off), rust type marks in shower around faucet. Basic amenities. WEIRD artwork…don't care if this is techyville, do not put artwork on wall that says GEEK….boring, ugly, and unimaginative. This is a parking lot location so put something with green and trees and thoughtful on the walls. Carpet new but looks like a computer chip. Ugh. Bed ok. Room large for needs even if bathroom is ridiculously small, you must close closet doors to open bathroom door to use. So ridiculous. Bathroom so small door must be shut to get in shower or turn around. Just really obvious poor planning. No breakfast. $21 to eat. Every time we went through lobby - every time a different ethinic group had taken over lobby by elevators with bad manners. Loud. or on their eletronic devices to the extreme while literally hanging over the sides of couches and chairs. Came in one night to have a drink by the hotel bar so cheesey and loud that we just kept walking. Ridicuous. Woke to last morning of fried food smell in room from restaurant, hotel vents outside of room window so we were getting a good douse of smell. Fantastic location (NOT) for honors level floor and freqent stayers program. Overall would not return but not other options in the area. No big deal but small annoyances that aren't worth the cost if there were alternatives. Not personal. Very interesting clientele mix. Seems to be a local hub too - had an "art" and junk sale during the stay. Did not feel very secure/safe in that way, too much public exposure with too many different diverse clienteles and happenings without management direction.

Room Tip: First part of week we could here the entire conversation of the room next door in the bathroom…could...

Dated hotel in desparate need of a refresh. Strange layout, long winding hallways with multiple doors. Rusty air-conditioner in room, leaking shower head fixture. Most of the decor looks like its left over from the 1960's.

Dear Chris C,

On behalf of Mr. John Schulz and our entire team, I would like to thank you for taking the time to write your review. We truly appreciate your detailed feedback. Our guests' feedback is extremely helpful and important to us.

I am happy to report that we are in the midst of doing a complete renovation of our property. We have already completed the sleeping rooms as part of Phase I. Phase II will consist of remodeling our public space area. This process will begin shortly and something we are very excited about.

Thank you again Chris C and thank you for being our guest. I hope you have a wonderful October.

First off we were part of a wedding party and the office staff was handing out the gift bags to the wrong people stating it doesn't matter who's name you get they are all the same (so not true the bride was very upset that I got someone else's bag because mine had some special treats since I am her best friend that drove all the way from Washington State) or they did not hand them out at all. The housekeeping staff came in and cleaned the room but did not stock ANY towels, we call 3 times for towels and finally when they did come the lady only brought 2 bath towels and nothing else and when we told her we had ordered 4 bath towels, 2 hand towels and 4 wash cloths she huffed and stormed off to get the towels we had called to order 3 times. We were part of a bridal party and our rooms were so scattered and no where near each other which we were told we would be somewhat close (again the bride was very upset about that.) The rooms were very hard to find and we got turned around many times going back and forth to the rooms. Bad layout of rooms around the pool and garden. The room was very clean and the pool was clean. Thankfully we got the wedding party discount.

I've stayed at this hotel when it was previously a Hilton and recently when it became a Doubletree. Both times I could easily hear my neighbors and people walking/running through the hallways. DO NOT GET A ROOM BY THE ELEVATORS! When it was a Hilton, the rooms were outdated and the furnishings old. Since it has been remodeled the rooms are a lot more modern. The bed was very comfortable and the rooms clean. As with most Hilton properties, wifi was an additional cost. The restaurant food wasn't much better. I ordered the calamari and it was pretty bland. The live band on Saturday night at the bar was a bonus. There are many other better choices in the Fremont/Newark area to stay at.

I was not very impressed with my stay in Double Tree in Fremont, CA. Room was a OK, but the bathroom - really small - when I opened the door to the bathroom, I could not get into the shower. I am a small person, and can't imagine bigger one to fit in it. Also, there is no ventilation in the bathroom. Room was not very clean as well.
