Can't Adjust Your Own Room's A/C

It's a shame that I have to give this hotel such a low rating because it's a pretty nice property - but there is a MAJOR PROBLEM here! You can NOT control your own room's air conditioning!

The hotel has the thermostat set at 70 degrees. You can not put it lower to cool your room to your liking. The hotel has also screwed the a/c control panel shut so you cannot open the thermostat to adjust it. As a result, we were roasting in our room all night long. It was hands down the most miserable night I have ever spent in a hotel room. This to me is inexcusable that a hotel would do something like this. If I pay for a room, I should be able to keep the room as cool as I please and not be uncomfortable and sweating all night long!

We stayed in a Junior Suite, a very large and spacious room with a nice big outdoor deck. Surprisingly, the bathroom was extremely small - way too small for a room of this size. It was hard to move around in and you had to step all the way inside before you could open or close the door. Not for those who are claustrophobic!

The room was nicely appointed and was very clean, and the suite had a comfortable workspace, large seating area with chairs and a sofa, and a convenient wet bar with sink and refrigerator.

The hotel is located right by a busy interstate so those sensitive to road noise would probably have a difficult time sleeping here. There is plenty of outdoor free parking.

The hotel has a very good buffet breakfast with made to order waffles and omelets and it is worth a stop in the morning. Service was good at this hotel.

Overall, I would still not recommend this Hilton because of the a/c issue.

I stayed here for the first time in August 0f 2006, and have since returned for at least 10 additional stays. As a frequent traveler, I can tell you that this is one of my favorite properties. I have stayed in nearly all sections of the hotel, and have consistently found the rooms to be fine. Bed comfort is great, room size is above average, bathrooms are fine (though some showers drain slower than I'd like), and staff is consistently terrific. Internet is free - a nice change from many hotels. The only two drawbacks are the tiny fitness room and the overpriced restaurant - I can't figure out why they think that travelers will pay $12 for a burger when you can go to Outback, Chevy's, or several other options very nearby. Despite these two flaws, I love the hotel and will continue to stay there any time I am in the Hayward / San Jose area for business.

I stayed at the Hilton Newark/Fremont on 9-28-07 and was really impressed with the room and lobby. This hotel is very clean and worth every dollar we paid. Booked it thru hotwire.com for only $72. Best part of the hotel was the large balcony with table and chairs and plenty of FREE parking! Only dislike are the thin walls. Our neighbors w/ kids were quite loud and we could hear everything, but they all were quiet and asleep by 10 PM so that wasn't a bother at all. Highly recommended.

In general full service Hiltons are a good bet but this one seems to be a notch above.

I like big bath towels and this Hilton has them. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable and quiet. If you have status with the Hilton chain you'll enjoy the perks especially the breakfast. This is not the executive/concierge lounge type breakfast but is served near the main lobby. The breakfast is outstanding with a made to order omelette station and the best waffles I have ever had!! The very friendly staff bends over backwards to provide you with the best service.

For the price range, this Hilton is definitely the best bang for the buck in the area.

The recently remodled room was beautiful. But I can't say enough about the helpfulness of the staff. My wife needed a nail file and one of the staff offered to go to the store and buy one for her. While walking through the pool area, the restaurant manager noted that the towel supply was low and he went and got more. The service at breakfast rivaled service we've experienced only in Asia. This is a model property that Hilton should be very proud of!
