“Peaceful stay at Emma Nevada House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2011

My mom and I had a very peaceful stay at the Emma Nevada House recently. Loved the Hideaway room, which would be great for people with kids. Beds were extremely comfortable, towels were soft and lush, and the room immaculately clean. Breakfast was fantastic! Eating on the deck surrounded by trees, beautiful flowers, and the trickling fountain was perfect for two people who had just experienced great loss and needed a place to relax. It was also wonderful to be able to walk to dinner in the lovely town of Nevada City. Thanks to Sue and Andy for providing just what we needed.

We were five friends travelling in northern California for a few days and had booked Emma Nevada Inn for a B&B experience. They were able to offer us a room that slept 3 as well as a room for 2. We were greeted with a beauiful white house with a white picket fence and a pretty garden. The verandah looked welcoming with comfy chairs inviting one to sit and take in all the little details surrounding you. Susan and Andrew welcomed us with a tour and details of their collection of artefacts from various parts of the world. Our rooms were luxurious with every little detail covered. Bathrooms had luxurious towels, and beautiful products to pamper ourselves with. A high light for me was their amazing collection of bird houses - just beautiful workmanship and so much detail. We visited on a Monday and Susan was able to let us know which restaurants were open ... we chose a Thai Restaurant with an outdoor patio and were so glad we did as we enjoyed a great night there.
Breakfast next morning was served on the back verandah - overlooking their lovely garden below - lots of trees and flowering shrubs - as well as a lovely rock garden with water feature right on the verandah between two trees growing up through it all. Oh did I mention the bird houses? Each one more beautiful than the one before! Breakfast was served at 9 am so we had gone for a long pre-breakfast walk and returned well and truly ready for the delicious and interesting breakfast that Susan had made for us.
I could happily have stayed longer and enjoyed more of the ambience of this beautful Inn and quaint township.

We stayed here for the film festival and it was more than perfect. Our room was spotless, \very comfortable, with air conditioning and a flat screenTV. Every thing was thought out carefully. High end, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and a wonderful really creative and healthy breakfast prepared every morning by Susan. And served by Howard who made sure your coffee was always topped up and hot! Lots of local knowledge about restaurants, and hikes etc. Susan even reserved our restaurants. All in all we felt welcomed into their beautiful home and treated like royal guests! The only thing that Susan wants to know is if you have any dietary constraints so that she can prepare you a breakfast you will eat:)

Room Tip: I would ask for the top floor rooms first, no one is stamping on top of you. Also more private as th...

We recently spent two nights in this gorgeous bed and breakfast Inn, located on a quiet street in the heart of Nevada City. We were able to park our car on site and easily make the short walk to all the wonderful shops, galleries and restaurants. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We enjoyed a delicious gourmet breakfast each morning served to us in the tranquil garden setting of the wonderful back porch overlooking beautiful trees and scenery. Andrew and Susan were excellent hosts. They made us feel right at home and gave us lots of great tips and information on what to see and where to eat. We enjoyed a very relaxing stay and look forward to returning to Emma Nevada House on our next visit to the area.

My girlfriend and I stayed two nights in the Nightingales Bower and absolutely loved it. It was quiet and clean, and in addition the jacuzzi tub and fireplace were romantic. The owners were hospitable, considerate, and had the best recommendations when it came to shopping and dining (Hint: New Moon's risotto balls are to die for). The b&b's close proximity to downtown was so ideal that we didn't drive once during our stay. Finally the breakfast french toast souffle just melted in my mouth in the best way possible.

Room Tip: Nightingales Bower was clean, quiet and had a romantic jacuzzi and fireplace

I usually prefer hotels and inns to B&Bs, but needed a location (last minute!) in downtown Nevada City where friends and I could stay for a wedding, and the Emma Nevada fit the bill. Although our stay was short (1 night), and most of our time was spent at the wedding functions, the Emma Nevada House made for a convenient, quiet and comfortable temporary home. The homemade breakfast was truly amazing... and the setting-- on the deck overlooking a wooded forrest-- could not have been more peaceful and relaxing. While not cheap, the Emma Nevada House provides a good value. For someone who usually prefers the less personal experience of staying at a hotel or inn when traveling, I would definitely be a return guest, particularly on a more romantic getaway.

This place was everything I hoped it would be. My husband and I stayed in Empress' Chamber and thought that it was worth every penny. The room was exquisite, extremely roomy, large flat screen TV on the wall, comfortable couch, very comfortable king size bed, and jacuzzi bath tub! Couldn't have asked for anything more! I disagree with the previous review on this room that it was noisy, I did not notice any shuffling around in the kitchen at night and we didn't notice the breakfast prep until about 8:30, which is not early at all. The breakfast was delicious, very nice and filling! I also heard no street noise, so I am not quite sure what that was about. But to sum it all up, I highly recommend this Inn and am sure that everyone else who stays there will love it!
