We returned back to New Moon after several months absence, and things were as good, or better than before. The seasonal menu is always new and varied, and all the fish specials were available on a Sunday evening, something not always a certainty after 7:30PM in the past, even with the tourist season beginning to heat up. The place was hopping inside and out. Halibut special was mouthwatering delicious and the sides were so fresh and perfectly seasoned, as always. The yuzu duck on the current menu unique, vibrant and perfectly cooked. Desserts as always-unique and beautifully crafted. Service very professional with long time staff. Wine list incredible- some wines great value, some not so much, but most hard to find on the lists of other spots. Whites, in particular, are more diverse and interesting than just about anywhere outside of SF. Bottled beer list is the best for miles around, although a few local brews on tap would be the perfect addition for any brew fans, with the highly rated Ol Republic right around the corner. New Moon remains the go-to place for elegant European style dining with professional service in Nevada County- contained within a very comfortable setting (as casual or dressy as you want).
