We were glad to find this hotel late on a Monday night and found the room a bit on the old and worn side, but clean and decent. My traveling companion was an older man who was recovering from a recent fall with a cane, and the desk manager was nice in offering a handicapped room. BUT ...
That night, when my friend put his right hand under his pillow when he was going to sleep, he felt a sharp bite or sting. It started itching right away. The next day (Tuesday) he awoke to find a big red itchy blister on that spot, and his hand throbbed all day. The day after that (Wednesday) he awoke to find his hand swollen and inflamed, spreading out from that blister. As we continued traveling that day, the hand continued swelling and the redness and swelling spread up his arm -- necessitating a stop at the Emergency Room in Gallup, NM, where he was loaded up on antibiotics. (As of today -- Thursday -- the hand is looking much better.)
We called the desk manager today to let them know of this -- just to warn them out of concern for future occupants of that room -- and he said they sprayed regularly and would look into it. We would have wished for a little more expression of concern -- or possibly even a refund -- and can only hope they really will take the matter seriously.
