“Nothing to write home about”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2006

The hotel is everything you would expect from a low end Marriott - adequate rooms, noise from the freeway, overpriced resturant, and fair service.

The biggest issue I have with this, or any other Marriott, is the execssive rate charged for internet access. $9.95 per DAY for in room and up to $30.00 per HOUR in the business center.

The food in the resturant was overpriced and under flavored. $15.99 for a breakfast buffet plus coffee and juice.

I am beginning to wonder when Marriott will begin charging for the "complementary" shampoo, conditioner, etc as well as a per towel charge.

I use TripAdvisor reviews on a regular basis when we travel. In the case of something like the Napa Marriott, I was scratching my head because it seems to run such a gamut. Because we like Marriott and this was convenient to the wine country, we decided to risk it. (Hey, you can always go somewhere else, right?)

We're so glad we went here. Granted, this is not the most "spiffy" Marriott I've ever seen, especially since we'd just stayed four nights in the lovely downtown SF Marriott. But the Napa property was actually cleaner. How do we know? The allergies don't lie about how much dust is in the room, and they were quiet here. There was a large gap at the bottom of the door that let in a lot of hallway light, but a bath towel took care of that problem. I don't mind folding a towel when the hotel is clean, quiet, and convenient.

The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was very clean. I've seen some comments that the concierge room was sub-par, but we had a good experience with that. There was a wine and cheese tasting each night from 4-7, then desserts from 7-10, plus continental breakfast. All of the items we sampled were fresh, and we saw them being regularly replenished. For breakfast we sampled the buffet, and it was a good selection at a good price with friendly service. The Harvest Cafe dining room is warm and very unique with its domed brick ceiling. I've seen negative comments about the food, but our breakfast was fine, though the problems may be with lunch and dinner.

We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.

We had an amazing stay. The rooms are spacious and newly decorated. The bath is spacious with a wonderful shower. The beds are very comfortable. Reception staff was extremely quick and very friendly. The food and wine at the Harvest Cafe was good and we had an unhurried dinner. The Sportsbar lacks comfort.
We loved our 3 nights here!

Recently returned from a class reunion held at the Napa Valley Marriott. Much fun, nicely appointed property but, I would seriously consider not eating there. We all pre-ordered either steak or chicken. The waitress made a pretense at taking steak orders to be cooked, rare, etc. Apparently all of the steaks were returned as partially eaten as they were all cooked the same way..overly done. Am hoping the class committee will receive some sort of compensation from the food service as this was the worst ever meal I've eaten at a Marriott.

We were so impressed with this hotel. Outstanding service, one of the most comfortable beds we ever slept in, and great food and wine tasting. We stayed in the Concierge wing and would highly recommend it. The location is convenient to downtown Napa (we ate at Chop's Steakhouse one night and it was very good) as well as heading north to the many vineyards (such beautiful scenery). Would also recommend a meal at the Culinary Institute (Greystone). So much wine, so little time.

  • Liked — Everything that came with the Concierge Wing room - comfortable bed, food, wine, services
  • Disliked — Couldn't get calls on phone which needed phone vendor to fix
  • Tips/Secrets — Stay in the Concierge Wing if you can - wonderful amenities.

I stayed at this hotel due to a great Priceline deal. I was a little bit hesitant, but decided it couldn't be that bad. On the trip with me was my husband and 9 month old. Overall, the experience was quite good. Upon arrival, we saw that the lobby is pretty standard for a 3 star hotel. We had requested a crib, which was in the room when we got there. The parking was free and right outside our door, which is great when you have so many bags to bring in because of a baby. We weren't expecting too much, since we got such a great rate. I would not want to spend over $200 for the normal rate for this hotel however. It is a standard 3 star hotel, very clean, great bath amenities. It did the job for us and we were quite happy. I would definitely return provided we get another discounted rate.

I recently stayed at the hotel on my anniversery and when I was checking in they informed us that I didnt have a resvervation on a Saturday night. After the staff researched they found out that it was my travel agent who had booked us at another Marriott in the area. The staff was amazing they were able to get us a beautiful room and called and canceled the original reservation without a charge. The Front desk helped book our Spa treatments at the spa on property which was amazing and the concierge planned out entire stay from which winerys to visit and dinner reservation at Mustards Grill on a Sat night. When we returned from dinner we had champagne and chocalate dipped strawberries in our room with a note from the staff wishing us a happy anniversery. What started out bad turned into one of the best experiences we have ever had at a hotel. Thanks to the staff and the service they provided.
